Christmas in April

Published by leslierich at 7:17 pm under Cards, Stampin' Up! projects

April ChristmasI know, I’m not in the mood for Christmas cards, either!  I guess that’s why I always wait until the last minute to get these 2007 Challenge cards done.  There’s actually more involved here than I planned at first, with all the Cuttlebugging, layering, punching, ribbon tying, sponging, embossing and coloring of the stamped image.  I also lined and stamped the insides and made coordinating envelopes with the Bold Snowflakes wheel.  I’m happy to say that I’m now well acquainted with my Cuttlebug, not to mention I’ve got ten more Christmas cards done.

The card laying in the foreground shows some of the sparkle of the Stardust embossing powder on Night of Navy Craft ink.  After I stamped, embossed and colored the images I punched them with the small tag punch, glued them on Real Red cardstock and punched with the large tag punch.  So handy!  I added tabs (Word Window punch) with silver brads, and the tags were then layered onto Holiday Thyme paper with Night of Navy sponged around the edges.  The Olive border is Holiday Thyme paper, too, layered onto Night of Navy cardstock and tied with red gingham ribbon.

Well, that’s it for this month’s Christmas cards.  I’ve got two months left in this challenge since I committed myself to ten cards a month for six months.  You can sign up any time, if you’re interested–just follow the link which I included in the first paragraph of this post.  I hope you all had a nice weekend!  It’s back to work for me now (insert sad face here).

I wish I could be so motivated! These are beautiful! I love the white snowflake layer with the Holiday Thyme paper, and red gingham. The Stardust Embossing powder looks so pretty on the snowman tag as well.

So cute! I love the Stardust embossing powder on the navy. Also love the Holiday Thyme paper - I wish I would have bought more of that when it was available! I gave in & bought a Cuttlebug last week - can’t wait to start playing with it! :-) Such cute cards!!

These are just beautiful Leslie! Love all the sparkle and the sponging. Each year I keep telling myself that I will make my cards early…and every year I don’t. Maybe if I do them in smaller doses like this I can actually achieve my goal.

I have a silly question for you, what do you line the inside of your cards with? Plain copy paper or something a little classier?

    TIA!

    Linda

    Wow Leslie,

I mistakenly bought that CB plate - I guess it was meant to be Christmas in April. I love the variety of elements in the card. The textures really pop! Must try and thanks for reminding us Christmas is around the corner (before we even know it). Have a Happy Week!

    grace :)

I have been waiting with anticipation all month long to see what your next Christams card would look like. I keep thinking that this is the best idea in the world and I should get on the ball and join in, but something just keeps pulling me away… Usually the housework, the bills, the cats need fed, oh my gosh look at that laundry… You know the usual things that keep me from my stamp room. Your cards are beautiful as they always are. Thanks for the inspiration Les!

Those are great! How the heck do you think about Christmas this early? I’m so impressed. I should really join in the fun so that I’m not scrambling at the end of the year.
