Ruby Tuesday: Stella Goes Postal

Published by leslierich at 10:10 pm under Cards, Ruby Tuesday, Stampin' Up! projects

Postal StellaTuesdays sure seem to come back around quickly.  Before I know it, it’s time for my day with BasicGrey Stella Ruby paper again.  Gosh, I hope my whole life isn’t going by that fast!  I catch myself sometimes during the work week when I’m wishing for the weekend–every day that goes by is one I can’t get back so I have to remind myself to savor something about that day.  Even though I had a hectic day at work, I did spend two breaks outside soaking up the sunshine.  The moment I stepped outside, away from the craziness, it was just reflexive to turn my face to the sun and smile.  Tonight I dallied with one of my favorite pastimes, stamping, and even better that I’m now here sharing it with you!  I’ll remember this as a good day.

This week’s Stella Ruby card uses some of the paper I’d previously cut into, but this time I stamped the French Flair background in Ruby Red on one of the panels.  I sometimes forget about stamping directly on the paper, but you can get so many more looks from the less patterned pieces by doing so.  I used a couple of stamps from Carte Postale, but the other postage cancellation stamps are by Tin Can Mail.  The tearing, distressing and sponging are all inspired by the aged look of the paper.  The cardstocks are Ruby Red, So Saffron and Very Vanilla, and the sponging is done with More Mustard and a tad bit of Close to Cocoa around the edges of the Ruby Red card base.  The bird is embossed with Midnight Sapphire Obsidian EP which has a deep sapphire metallic sheen to it, very much like a real swallow.  It’s much more impressive IRL, one of those little things that makes a big difference.  I have my friend, Linda Bullard (SCS labullard) to thank for this EP–thank you, Linda!

I’ll return now to the more Spring-fresh cards I’m inclined to stamp this time of year, but I do enjoy these little diversions with Stella.  I hope you do, too.  I’d love it if you’d tell me one thing about today that gave you pleasure–any little thing.  It would give me pleasure, too!  Happy Tuesday!

Gorgeous card Leslie! I just received my 6×6 pack of the Stella Ruby paper in the mail. Now just to get over my hoarding tendencies. Love all the vintage colors on this one. I bet that swallow is beautiful IRL!

Hmmm….as for what little thing made me happy today. Well it is only 6:56 AM here in Colorado and I have been here at work almost a half an hour. I got to see both of my little ones awake before leaving this morning (no small feat considering they are only 5 and 3)! There is nothing so joyous as children fresh from a good nights sleep.

The French Flair stamped in red was a great idea. It looks perfect on that designer paper.

It’s kind of early, how about something good from yesterday? I got to go for a walk with my dog and husband in the late afternoon/ early evening sunshine. I LOVE this beautiful weather!

Beautiful card again Leslie. It is early and quiet and everyday I am blessed by the birds in the trees outside. They are my alarm clock. I used to have roosters and I loved them. People would come and visit and make jokes about frying them up for dinner because they were noisy. One persons noise is anothers alarm clock. I bet you get some beautiful birds in your garden and what an amazing concert they my sing. Heres to another georgous day!

My first pleasure of the day was having mocha and toast with Denny, while we watch our birdies outside and look at all the gorgeous new leaves on our hardwood forest. Gorgeous maple, myrtle and alder leaves with fir in the mix. So many beautiful shades of green. The 2nd best part of my morning…….visiting stella and your gorgeous stella ruby tuesday card. Love the stamping on the Dp, distressing and going postal motif. TFS your card and letting me share the start of my day :-)

Such a gorgeous card (as always!) Pleasure this morning came at breakfast with my son - he had an empty sippy cup, and was hiding his banana inside. He’d put it in there, raise up his little hands in a shrug, I’d say “where’s the banana??” and he’d be soooo proud of himself & just laugh & laugh when he’d take off the lid and reveal the banana “hidden” inside. So cute!

Oh…I love the Stella with the Carte Postale stamps & background (I hope they make the big catty)! Gorgeous!

My pleasure is seeing my kids running and playing outside on this beautiful sunny day. The winters seems to last so long, and now that it’s nice…we’re soaking it up!

Such an elegant card, Leslie. Thanks for the tip on stamping on the DP - it really looks great. One of my many pleasures today was seeing the first Indigo Bunting arrive at our feeder - a week earlier than last year because I noted it on the calendar. They are such lovely little birds - beautiful color of blue - possible near to the new SU Bayou Blue.
