Jami’s Challenge

Published by leslierich at 1:33 am under Cards, Stampin' Up! projects

Stampin FunI made this card in response to a challenge issued by Jami.  I don’t own this SU! set, but she does and she sent a selection of images to several of her stamper friends with a couple of provisions:  We were to use any or all of the images and upload them to our blogs and/or galleries between May 20 and May 30.  I guess, in a sense, we’re having a retirement party for this set which will be gone from the catalog after July 1st.   Maybe you’ve seen some of the other cards which have been posted for this challenge.  They’re all very different in design, color and style.  Stampin’ Fun For Everyone!

I got this paper fixed in my mind when I saw these images–because of the ink splatter design–so that pretty much decided the colors.  I used Brilliant Blue for the card base and her dress, and Certainly Celery and Almost Amethyst for the other layers.  Jami had already circle punched the sentiment so I layered it onto another circle, slightly off set.  It seemed more retro that way.  What does this mean, I wonder–”Stamps insulate the home”?   The image, by the way, is watercolored.  I gave her kind of an angelic glow with a halo of Barely Banana.  The tab is cut from one of the other sentiments Jami included in my little package.

This was fun, Jami!  I really appreciate the opportunity to participate in your challenge.  Thank you!  I hope everyone’s having a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Great job with the challenge, Leslie! Love that paper — you’re right, it’s perfectly ink splotched! Love the colors.

I love it! Of course I love this set and the Patterns of friendship on too. I am crying inside that this one is being retired. I didn’t get around to buying it yet but it’s so cool. I hope SU! comes out with more of these edgy retro ones. Judging by the Mix & Mingle sets and the Stay Tuned ones leaving I am not so sure they will. Yes! I had better get this set B4 it’s gone. You did a wonderful job with this card. Hmmm I think stamps insulate the home because insulation keeps us warm and cozy and happy stampers do that for their home too. I am SO impressed with your card and how you did it ALL. Have you used the other sets I’ve mentioned? Love to see. I am off to the SCS gallery to check out the other ones done for this challenge. Thanks Leslie for starting my day off with a smile and an ooooh and an awwwww, and a wow.

Wonderful card for this Jami Challenge! You pulled it all together so well. The splotchy paper is perfect, and I love the golden halo and how you isolated the word “share.” That’s one of the best aspects of stamping! I’m counting on this to inspire me and come to conclusion on my own Jami Challenge card! :o) Linda

Oh Leslie! I love it! The color combo is so fresh and fab! And the way you cut the one word for a tab - very cool! Thanks so much for playing. It’s so fun to see all the different takes on this set. And I love throwing a retirement party for her!

As always, your colors, layers and BG are just perfect for your main image. Maybe our stamps insulate our homes because we have so many of them? I do have a closet that is pretty well insulated by my stamps, etc. :-) Happy Memorial Day to all and to esp. my friend Leslie……….Nancy

Your choice of paper works beautifully here, and I love how you’ve colored image (the glow is perfect, and I love how you added the splash of color to the sentiment as well). You never cease to amaze me, Leslie! ;)
