Doodled With Love

Published by leslierich at 10:11 pm under Cards, Stampin' Up! projects

Doodle LoveI used several of my had-to-have-its on this card.  Well…isn’t every card made up of had-to-have-its?  The trouble is, my had-to-have-its often turn into hardly-use-its.  This cute little heart was probably what most attracted me to this set so, finally, I just had-to-use-it.  I know this looks like a Valentine.  I tried to avoid that, but it just started evolving into the Valentine look and I was wearing myself out trying to resist.  I guess it just wanted to be a Valentine.

After I pieced together my three patterns of the Au Chocolat paper and chose my colors and ribbon I thought I’d Cuttlebug a little square of green on which to mat the heart, but I decided the old fashioned crimper gave me the look I preferred, considering the ribbon.  I just had-to-have that crimper once upon a time, too, so I might-as-well-use-it.  I enjoyed making this card, even if it is a little late for the date, but isn’t any time a good time to tell someone they’re loved?

My had-to-have-its are listed below.  Thank you for visiting!

Stamps:  Doodle That, So Very

Paper:  Rose Red, Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla, Au Chocolate

Ink:  Versamark, Chocolate Chip

Accessories:  Ribbon, crimper, Stampin’ Pastels, dark brown EP, Making Memories eyelets, Scotch brand double sided foam mounting tape, 1 3/8″ circle punch

All supplies are Stampin’ Up! except for the Making Memories eyelets and foam tape.

Your “Had-to-have-its” have many cousins living in my home. Sometimes I try to convince myself that I do NOT need anything else - doesn’t last long - especially with all the stamping enablers I read and given my lack of will power.

What a lovely card! I think we need to make a few valentines along the way every now & then! You’re right - there is too much stamping stuff out there & once you get a “had to have it” it’s amazing how you suddenly don’t need it any longer. I have finally gotten the message & limit myself - funny how much happier I am!

what a great card! There is a ton of tempting purchases out there and sometimes we “need” them. My hubby is scared we won’t fit in our house soon with all my craft stuff. I’m purging this week - so I can fit MORE STUFF!!!!

Oh my gosh! I love it! and that’s what I said out loud when I saw this card! My co-workers were wondering what is going on at my desk. I never even thought Valentine’s when I saw it. I love how you matched the crimping with the ribbon! I absolutely love that ribbon! It’s so pretty. I love that stamp too! It reminds me of a tatoo. I just want to keep on gushing about this card!

What a gorgeous card!! I, too, have Doodle That and have yet (gasp) to ink it up! You have inspired me to do so! My favorite part of this card, is how you used the different patterns of the Au Chocolate paper!

Excellent title and beautiful card. Don’t worry we all have the same issues. Our hearts are in the right place - thinking we can make all this cool stuff! Just think you made a beautiful “just because” card for a loved one. Thanks for sharing and I love your blog.

This is absolutely darling!! I TOTALLY forgot about my crimper! I’ll have to pull it out! Thanks for the reminder! :D

I think we all can relate to the “had-to-have-its”. Your post sure made me smile. I love your card, even if you think it looks like a Valentine. I love how you used the Chocolat paper, and how you crimped the Mellow Moss piece (looks great with that ribbon!)

Oh don’t we all have a cabinet full of “Have to Haves.” I know I do. This card is so perfect — it doesn’t have to be Valentine Day at all. Anyone you care about would love to receives this anytime of the year! It is just gorgeous!

I am so glad you just “had to have” everything in your beautiful card. Gosh, I can not even remember when I last used my crimper….poor thing. This would make a wonderful anniversary card too. TFS

I don’t think it’s too Valentine-y. Let someone know they’re loved any old time. And very pretty! The three papers look great going from dark to light.

Oh no…I may “have to” order this set before it’s too late. And it’s so cute with all the chocolate!

This is so pretty Leslie! I don’t think it looks Valentiney at all. I think it would be a great card to give to someone any time of the year. Love all the chocolate with just the hints of pink. Perfect!

Oh Leslie, this is adorable! Great use of that crimper to match the ribbon (must use my crimper more too). This design is deceptively simple. Love the layering and the tabbed sentiment. Linda
