Ruby Tuesday: The Fitting Room
Stella is a true woman of substance. Though a lady of her means could employ half a dozen dressmakers, she chooses to design her own wardrobe, stitching every seam herself. Would your Stella sew her own, or would she have a personal seamstress?
For today’s BasicGrey Stella Ruby card I allowed the pattern markings to determine the theme. I’ve had this Art Impressions dressmaker’s form since dressmaker’s forms were all the rage a while back. It seems to me it’s still a perfectly good stamp and it felt good to blow the dust off and use it. I’ll bet you have a few dusty old stamps, too, don’t you? I’ve really been in the mood to create with mine, lately. Truthfully, back when I collected most of those stamps I didn’t have the wherewithall to use them with any degree of skill or imagination. My relationship with Stampin’ Up! and Splitcoaststampers brought about changes that I’m truly grateful for. I’m having fun bringing out an oldie but goodie once in a while to see what it can look like today.
The dressmaker’s form was stamped in Versamark onto a panel of Stella Ruby and embossed with black EP. My cardstock is SU!’s So Saffron and Basic Black. The script in the lower right corner is Hero Arts — Style is Eternal. The ribbon is Offay from Joann’s. I used it on the very first card I ever uploaded to SCS in October 2004. Want to see, just for kicks? Here it is: Perfect Form. Now, I’m not going to poke fun at myself about that old card. It meant as much to me at the time as this one does today. When I uploaded that card I stepped over a threshold and into a world that I never imagined existed–a world populated by others as passionate about this craft as I am. I had no idea there were so many of us! And now, there’s all of you, too! How great is that? Pretty great, I’ll tell you! Thanks for sharing another Ruby Tuesday with me!

FABULOUS, Leslie! I love that dressform stamp–beautiful use of paper as well–great job!
This is awesome…I love how you used the Stella Ruby DP here!

OH I so love this card. I am a seamstress and a wanna be card maker. Sewing is my first love and cardmaking my second. You have combined the two awesomely. What company made that stamp. I have to have it. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

Stella Ruby is looking fine today! I love all the details, and the embossed dressmaker’s form. Love the ribbon, and charm! Wonderful, Leslie!
Thanks for sharing your card from ‘04! That one was very nice as well!
Beautiful Stella, once again! Love that ribbon and the scissors charm. Unfortunately, my Stella would have to employ a personal seamstress, because I don’t sew! And thanks for posting your first SCS card - oh, what a Magical Mystery Tour it’s been! :o) Linda
Stella is just stunning! What a great way to use this gorgeous paper. Thanks for the link back in time, what a journey you’ve had!

Beautiful beautiful Stella! She is looking so fine. I LOVE this card, Leslie. And I enjoyed seeing your first upload on SCS. It’s a darling card but does show just how far you have come. It gives me hope!
Thank you Leslie for sharing another “Great” Stella card and sharing with such a sweet and true story. Just because of you I now have my very own Stella paper that I received yesterday from Jacksonbelle’s Embellishment store. You truly are an inspiration. Your friend from our very first days of stamping. Nancy
Holy moly! How fabulous is this card??! I love it!
Beautiful card and awesome papers! This is the second time I’ve seen the dress form today. Take a look at Donna Downey’s website - apparently she’s obsessed! http://donnadowney.typepad.com/simply_me/2007/06/ode_to_the_dres.html
Gorgeous, Leslie — love that dress-maker form stamp! Great layout, too.
This is my first time at your blog and I had fun poking around and reading your thoughtful posts. I love dress stamps and this one and the one two posts down are fabulous. Beautiful job! I’m adding you to my google reader so I can keep up with your great work. I love your mix of stampin up and other companies. That fits my collecttion of supplies too! I learned to stamp from a friend at a stamp store and was introduced to SU a year or so later.
