Garden Silhouettes: Love At First Stamp

As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I was fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase two of the hostess sets that will be available in the new catalog.  I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am to own this Garden Silhouettes set!  It feels so good to me!  I tried to be somewhat reserved with my preorder, but I did get four stamp sets, this gorgeous Brocade Backgrounds designer series paper, the Blossoms & Basics chipboard and all the new In Color inks and cardstocks.  I was glad it rained all day Saturday so I could get cozy in my stamp room!

As I stood there looking at all my new treasures I realized I simply felt overwhelmed.  I had my heart set on stamping with Garden Silhouettes, but I knew I had several other cards I should be working on — two birthday cards that needed to be cute rather than elegant, a baby card, several Father’s Day cards for my coworkers, and an encouragement card for a guy which was also a special request.  What to do, what to do?  Well, what I did was limit myself, starting with Garden Silhouettes — one stamp out of the set, one background stamp, one sheet of designer paper (although I did borrow a bit of stripe from another sheet), and a minimal palette of cardstock colors.

Silhouettes ChocolateNow, I’ll admit I was skeptical about River Rock.  I was expecting a lighter, creamier shade of Caramel, not another green.  It is, in fact, another green but not just any old green.  It’s a soft, delicate, velvety smooth, restful hush of green, soothing and lovely to work with.  I won’t presume to tell you that you’re going to love this color — we all have different preferences — but it’s one I’ll be using a lot.  My Linen background on all three cards is stamped with it and it coordinates beautifully with the designer paper.  I knew I’d love the deep, rich rose of Purely Pomegranate so I selected it for the main images.  Yes, it’s similar to Rose Red, but more intense and ever so slightly purple tinged.  Do not fear, it’s not like Marvelous Magenta, although I loved Magenta and regret I never got a full pack of that color.

So here they are, the first of many to come with this set, I’m sure.  Now I’ll get busy on those other cards.  At least I have a few ideas jotted down…  Thanks for visiting!  Have a wonderful week!

Ohh!!! I get my Garden Silhouettes tomorrow. I’ll be stalking the front door waiting for “brown” to show up. He’d better have all 42lbs of rubber with him or else! LOL! I love what you’ve done. I feel a CASE coming on… :-)

These are all gorgeous Leslie! How did I know that Garden Silhouettes would make it to your first order? Hmmmm…..

Love the colors on this! I think that River Rock is going to be one of my favorites too! I only regret that I ordered the variety pack of cardstock (something that I will be taking care of soon). Can’t wait to see what you do with your new goodies. I definately LOVE what you did above.

Mmmm, delicious cards, Leslie! I’ve been ever so restrained and haven’t ordered a lick yet! You’re making the resistance wear down for sure!

Gorgeous cards, Leslie! That stamp is soooo *you*!! It reminds me an awful lot of Artfully Asian, too! I’ll be getting my new colors tomorrow, and the Brocade paper, but I didn’t order new rubber…

Leslie, these are just beautiful, and I loved your picturesque description as well! I’m still debating on hostess sets–figured that I have so very much rubber anyway. . . but you are making it harder!

Well darn it! I preordered one of the Level 2 sets with a Consistency Counts reward - and now you’re making me think I chose the wrong one!! I should have asked you before placing my order which set you’d be making me long to own…! :-) These are just gorgeous!

All of these are so beautiful, Leslie! I love the feathered ripping you did on the first card, and the shadowing of the main image on the second two. The Brocade paper is so pretty on your cards!! I love them all!!

As usual, all designs you did using this image are wonderful. I’ve been on the fence about getting this Hostess Set. Being a Hobby Demo I would not buy it for the purpose of encouraging a Hostess to receive it - I’d get it for my personal use. I have Artfully Asian and because it reminded me so much of that set may be why I haven’t ordered it. You’re making it awfully hard to resist, though!!! I, too, thoroughly enjoyed your conversation on this - your artist’s touch definately flows over into your words - they are most beautiful to read.
