Another “Pretty & Flowery” Card
This is the last of the pretty and flowery cards I’m making for my friend to choose for his mother’s birthday. Maybe. If another pretty and flowery card comes out of me between now and her birthday I’ll let him take a look at it. What are the odds, do you think, that I’ll make another flowery card pretty soon? I probably go overboard with the flowers but I’ll admit, I’m a flower lover. I tell myself all the time to do something other than flowers, but whenever I do it seems like, all of a sudden, my cards aren’t pretty anymore. I like pretty cards.
To make this card I used, for the first time, the Simply Delightful Scrappin’ Kit which was an SAB item earlier this year. This is also the first time I’ve used this Delight in Life set, other than the little sprinkles that I stamped on some Christmas cards. I will be using all of these items again. I don’t know why I drag my feet like this sometimes. I guess it’s because when these sets first come out they’re used so many times by so many people–who wants to see it used again by slow-poke me?
The cardstocks I used on this are Bashful Blue, Regal Rose, Certainly Celery and Whisper White. The flowers were watercolored on Naturals White with Rose Red ink. The centers were colored with the So Saffron marker and covered with glitter (bonus). I stamped the little sprinkles on the white panel in Bashful Blue. The rest of it is papers and pieces from the Scrappin’ Kit. I love the trim that comes with these kits and I’ll look forward to decorating more cards with it. I have one other kit and some Accents & Elements just sitting around, waiting…
I thought I’d share my first new catalog order with you, too, since I’ve enjoyed reading everyone else’s lists. Hope you’re not tired of these lists yet. Here goes:
Garden Whimsey and Whimsey wheel — Who’s not getting these? They caught my eye right off the bat and it seems like they’re on just about everybody’s list.
Sanded background — So I can make my paper look like BasicGrey
Happiness background — It’s like a whole bunch of different borders all in one.
Oh, So Lovely — Level 1 Hostess set
Basic Gray paper and ink – I already have all the other new colors.
Earth Elements textured cardstock
Scallop circle punch
Taffeta ribbon in Kraft and Basic Gray
Double stitched ribbon in Soft Sky and Groovy Guava
Ribbon Originals in Jersey and Sherbet
It’s just a sampling of a few different things. I’m a hobby demo who happens to sell a little bit once in a while so I don’t really need to place a big order. Do you have a favorite from the new catalog? What kind of stamps tend to catch your eye, and why? You don’t have to answer these questions, but I am curious. Have a good rest of the week! I hope I’ll be back before the week is over…

It was fun to see what you ordered. I’m a Hobby Demo as well with a handful of faithful customers so I don’t “have” to order lots. I had not even noticed the Happiness background stamp - thanks for pointing me to it - looks very versatile and I’ll add it to my wish list. I bought Boatloads of Love because I like that artist’s style. I love my little Loads of Love truck. I also got Wanted, along with the Outlaw designer paper because I like the looks of it and I think I can make masculine card with it. Finally, I got the Sanded background stamp because I like the aged look. I ordered all of the new punches because I’m addicted to punches!!!!! I love the look of the new taffeta ribbon and ordered some of that as well. Oh,yes, I love your card! I recently discovered how handy those Scrappin kits are for cards. Doesn’t SU make quality stuff? Sorry for the length of this.
I LOVE your flowery cards. You do beautiful work. Don’t stop now. LOL
I too have alot of this paper I am trying to use up. You did a great job with this card. Very pretty.
Beautiful card! You’ve done a great job.
Very sweet!
Beautiful Leslie! I’m amazed that set goes with this paper — leave it to you to find that out!
I was so excited to see this card because I have this scrappin’ kit and have had some trouble coming up with cute things to do with it! Thank you so much for the inspiration!
What a gorgeous card you made out of your kit. I love the dimensional flowers and layout. TFS your 1st order. I was esp. attracted to the tex. papers, ribbons, punches and sentiment sets. I am in love with all of the new In Colors. I got all the dbl stitched ribbons and will be sharing with 2 of my gf’s. I got more grosgrain ribbons, scallop punch, rhinestone brads and more, but not even one stamp set yet…… I am going to digest the catty a little more and put in another order later in the month with stamps. I just am having a tough time choosing my fav. I like so many of the new sets. Again, TFS your order and card…..
Leslie, I love your flowery cards!! Wish I could make them half as beautiful. This one is so pretty as well! I love how you colored the flowers and added the glitter to the centers. I have extra kits, so I am not selling that stamp set anytime soon.
As far as the new catalog merchandise…I mostly went for the new punches and ribbon first. I also purchased all of the new colors but not too many new sets yet. (I pre-ordered quite a bit, and lots of my mini sets made the big catty. I had a pretty good selection that didn’t retire as well). I tend to pick flowery sets first, though. It’s hard to pass up a pretty floral set!!
GORGEOUS!!!! I once again love everything that you have done with this card. The flowers are so pretty with coloring and sparkling centres, and the background papers look so nice. I love the greeting tag and the ric-rac. TFS
Well I’m not ordering Garden Whimsey! At least, not right now - but I’m sure once you have it you’ll do amazing things with it and then I’ll feel a desperate urge to order it myself! You have a way of doing that to me!
Please don’t ever stop making flowery cards, I love each and every one you make! This one is gorgeous - love the glittery flower centers!
Beautiful!! I love your cards..they are so creative!!
Gorgeous card using Delight in Life. I’ve hardly used it either, but that set is definitely a keeper. Great design using that Scrappin Kit. And your order is very interesting, considering your initial responses. Gee, only six ribbons? :o) I have yet to start even compiling an order. I hope to have some time for that soon. Linda
Gorgeous card, Leslie. I love this set and also the scrappin kit! You have an interesting list for SU! I’ll post mine on Saturday, I think!
I love your pretty flowery cards - just amazing talent! More, pretty please.
My list looks like yours - Garden Whimsy caught my eye in the second pass and now tops my list of stamp sets. I have most of the carry overs from last year’s catalog - this set looks great for the novice like me and for the talented artists, have a lot of otential. I am drawn to the “happy and friendship” sets right now. Many sets have images that I think I already have - could that be possible? I guess I need to be enabled.
Why mess with perfection? What could be better than pretty and flowery? This is just as you say, “flowery and pretty”. The rick rack (faux) *below* the paper seam looks good. I always put it right on the seam. Love seeing other people’s ideas.
This is sooo darling! I LOVE the rickrack, colors, layout..fabulous! These Kits are awesome!
You just never stop making something totally new with your fun creations. Kudos!
Beautiful card Leslie! And I think the odds of you posting a flower card soon are pretty good! *wink* I think it’s safe to say that you are known for your beautiful florals (be it in a real garden or on paper).
On my first SU order, I went mainly for a lot of new accessories (although there is a stamp set or two thrown in for good measure…and Sanded is included as I’m a BG junkie). The Garden Whimsy and Whimsy wheel are on my next order. I’m a hobby demo too and can’t wait to see what the next mini holds in store for us (as Halloween and Christmas are two of my favorite holidays). I swear…there’s always something new just around the corner.
Linda
Your card is beautiful…..will have to dig out my kit.
My motto is if you LOVE flowers……….stamp them! I just refuse to listen to folks who say *you should try some other type of stamps* I have other stamps and use them……but flowers are my favs. My first order contains Fabulous Flowers (surprise surprise!) lol. I really love that style…a bit western. Also, Sanded BG, Punch Box Set (gulp), half of the new colors, and several of the taffeta ribbons. So hard to choose……..I want EVERYTHING! lol
Hi Leslie,
I love this card! I can not get enough of the Delight in Life and Just Delightful paper. Just beautiful, thanks for the inspirations, Jennifer
What a beautiful card, just found your blog and loving it.
O.K….I’m feeling doubly (is that a word?) ashamed this morning. I have that same Simply Scrapping kit and have not used it either! Your card really makes me want to get it out, though! I love the pretty and fresh feeling of it…and the sparkle is a visual treat!
Thanks for posting what you ordered! I think we got a lot of the same stuff!
