Ruby Tuesday: The Simple Things In Life
What do you do when the paper is just too pretty to cover up? I guess you concentrate all the stamping and design into as small an area as possible. This piece of BasicGrey Stella Ruby is one I couldn’t bear to cover. I did want to add a little something to the card front, right side, vertical orientation, without competing with the floral beauty of the paper. When I looked at this Hero Arts stamp I thought it would very nicely complete the sentiment begun by Stella Ruby.
The 5 1/4″ square card base is Chocolate Chip and the next layer is River Rock. Yes, River Rock again–I so enjoy working with this color. The sentiment panel was stamped with River Rock Linen and the sentiment, itself, is Chocolate Chip. I punched just two corners with the ticket corner punch and distressed the opposite edge. The 1 1/4″ circle punch allowed me to inset the shell button, tied with frayed linen thread. The edges of most of the panels are sponged with Close to Cocoa and the top layer of the sentiment panel is raised on dimensional tape. The ribbon is from Stampin’ Up!’s Ribbon Originals, Prep School collection.
I’m glad you could join me for another Ruby Tuesday. I surely do appreciate your company and I enjoy the time we spend here together. I’ll look forward to another visit again soon. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Gorgeous, as always! I love that shell button - such a nice touch.
Wow Leslie, another gorgeous Stella card!!!! what a beautiful way to let the paper shine. I totally love this:)
Lovely card! I just love your color and stamp choices!
ooh Leslie, I have to tell ya this is a fave! I love how you utilized this paper and your sentiment with the half circle and button, yummy!
I can certainly see why you didn’t want to cover up this gorgeous paper. What a lovely card this makes! The sponging produces a wonderful effect, and the shell button looks like it was made to go with this paper. And I love that (almost) half circle cut into the sentiment layer to accomodate that button. Very clever. Kind of an “Inside the Box” technique. :o) Linda
WOW, this is just so gorgeous! (I’m going to have to come up with another description word, I feel like all I ever say about your work is ‘its gorgeous’!)
How’s spectacular?
Beautiful, just beautiful. I love Ruby Tuesday!
This card is fantastic, beautiful, love that paper, love how you placed the button
So very beautiful! I don’t blame you for not wanting to cover up that pretty paper. The sentiment is perfect, and I love the button!
Wow absolutely stunning!!! Love it!!!
Love your Ruby Tuesdays, Leslie & this card is certainly worth waiting for! Love the way you cut out around the sentiment and placed the button!
So, so gorgeous. Thank you for not covering up much of the beautiful floral paper. I love your inset button and use of River Rock and Choc. chip. Another truly creative and gorgeous Stella card. TFS
This is so pretty! I love the button hole, and the antiqued sentiment layer! Just beautiful!
Your card is beautiful!

Just beautiful!! I love how you cut out parts of the stamped part - very effective! TFS
This is absolutely stunning! WOW! Love the half circle for the button!
A very lovely card!
What a pretty card! Just elegant!
Very, very elegant. Reminds me of expensive fabric! The colors are definitely among my fav.
Oh, this is gorgeous. I have been just staring at this piece myself - I just adore what you did with it. I actually have the vertical stamp a well - but all the loving things you do to each piece in your art is just a googol of steps “swoosh” past this beginner. I love the button and how you’ve further taken the time to tie the thread. PERFECTION!
Absolutely breath-taking. great design…great embellishments - I love it!
I love the way you framed that button! This is just a perfect card, Leslie!
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! Love it!
THUD! Gorgeous!
You know I just HAD to tag you, so… “Tag, you’re it!”
This is just beautiful Leslie! I know what you mean about not wanting to cover up this beautiful paper. I made myself a 6×6 book with Stella Ruby paper and I have yet to add any kind of embellishment to it (as I don’t want to cover anything up). I’ve added a little glitter to the flowers. It just needs something….I just don’t know what that something is yet.
I love the sentiment that you chose and the way you framed the button.
Linda
Stunning! I love how you made such a gorgeous card with very little stamping. Ida
Gorgeous!! I love how you let the patterned paper speak for itself! Great layout, and I like what you did with (and around) the button!
You never cease to make my jaw drop Leslie! Sooo creative! I just love everything you create. You are one of my absolute faves!
How beautiful! I love that paper, LOVE how you did the sentiment too, distressed and so fabric looking!
Oh, Leslie!!!! I can’t believe how much I’ve missed! This is absolutely fantastic! You really should frame it! (And then send it to me…LOL!)
Hi Les, I love those cards, especially Ruby Tuesday(big red flower), the Baroque, and Simple Day. You are so GOOD GIRL! Miss ya! Trudy
