Garden Whimsey Happiness

Published by leslierich at 10:09 pm under Cards, Stampin' Up! projects

Whimsey TulipI made another card with my new SU! supplies today and I have to tell you I’m most thrilled with the Happiness background!  That’s the Wasabi piece on this card.  Oh, my gosh, what fun this background will be!  I stamped the whole background with Wild Wasabi, cut out the parts I wanted to use and pieced it back together, rearranged somewhat.  Due to time constraints I couldn’t get too creative, but I’d love to stamp this background in several colors to mix it up a little.  It even has words on it which will be very useful.  I’m so glad I ordered this background!

I also really like this Garden Whimsey set because it’s so…well…whimsical.  I would have used the small butterfly from the set, but it was facing the wrong direction for my design.  This butterfly is from Sweet Shapes and I think it works just fine.  And while I’m talking about all these new things I love, I’ll tell you I’m totally smitten with the textured cardstock.  Oh, I know I could have mountains of Bazzill cardstock by now, but this is in SU! colors so it matches perfectly.  I’m so happy with the way the texture enhances the design of the card.  It just sits there looking good without any stamping on it at all!

The ribbon is from the Jersey collection.  Have I mentioned how much I love ribbon?  I actually designed the whole card around this particular piece.  It’s more like twill, really, with the zig zag stitched through it.  As for the main image, I colored the stamp with Ruby Red and Garden Green markers and used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position the words.  The butterfly is stamped in Summer Sun.

I have to run now because I’ve got a lot more to do tonight and dinner just came out of the oven.  I’ll save this now and post it later.  There’s supply details below.  Have a great week and I’ll be back next for Ruby Tuesday.

I just LOVE this ribbon too. I got some in one of the Simply Sent kits, and now I want a whole spool of it! I wish they sold the ribbon that way. I really wanted my swaps to have this ribbon, but there’s no way I’m going to use that much of all the other colors by the time more fun stuff that I HAVE TO HAVE comes out. Oh well!

Beautiful first card with these new goodies! You’ve certainly realized your first impression of the Happiness background. You thought you could have some fun with it, and you are! Lovely design too. You should get a commission on SU!’s textured cardstock. You’re so making me want to buy it! Linda

Oh, man! Here’s another set (Happiness bkgnd) set that I have to get now!!! I talked myself out of it, and here you go…you make a beautiful card (and you even used Garden Whimsy)! I have Garden Whimsy, so logically, I need the Happiness stamp too! And that ribbon…wow! Mine actually just came today and I can’t wait to see it in person!

I LOVE what you have done with the sentiment around the tulip! This is just as creative and well… ‘whimsical’ as it gets! Great idea on the Happiness backgrounder, too. I still have not mounted it as I’m torn as to whether to cut it apart or mount it whole. Your solution to just cut out the areas you want to use and piece them.. well I think that is what I will do now, too! Thanks, Leslie, for showing how wonderfully that works!
