Playing Tourist in My Own Back Yard

Published by leslierich at 1:54 am under Other Fun Stuff

Old boatWell, this isn’t precisely my back yard but close.  It’s just a hop, skip and a jump away.  The Seafood Festival was happening in the Charleston (Oregon) Boat Basin Saturday and we thought we’d wander into the thick of it for a little weekend diversion.  I won’t keep you too long on this non-stamping subject, but I thought it might be fun to share just a little bit of where I live and what I do when I’m not at work, in the garden or in my stamp room.

We didn’t stay too long at the festival before we wandered off the beaten path.  We found this little beauty in a back road shipyard.  It had so much character I just had to photograph it.  It still sports a little bit of the yellow which gave it it’s name — you can faintly see the missing “C”.  Just click on the thumbnails below for a trip down the road less traveled.  The first photo is a strip of the Charleston harbor shoreline.   We did hike all the way down there so we could enjoy it up close and personal.  Enjoy your day at the beach!

Stamping will resume shortly…

Terrific photos Leslie. I grew up and lived the first 58 years of my life near the water in Washington state. To this day, being near water is theraputic for me. As I looked at your photos I could almost smell the saltwater. Thanks for sharing your day.

Great pics, Leslie! I love the one of that rocky shoreline. It’s so totally different from here on the East coast. Beautiful!!!

    Leslie,
These are so wonderful. Made me feel like I was there. We’re having rain here in Ohio, so being at the ocean made me feel happy. Thanks for the happy moments in my morning.

Awesome pictures Leslie!! I love the crab one being that crab is my all time favorite thing to eat:) You are surrounded by such beauty from your own gorgeous garden, to the wonderful water. Far cry from the sights of Middle GA. Have you lived there your entire life? It’s just gorgeous!!

Looks like you had a beautiful day! Naturally, since I have company coming tomorrow for the week it’s cloudy and overcast at the moment here on the Central Oregon Coast!

Leslie…how beautiful, the scenery over looking the clifs…isn’t it amazing how God could think that up….!
I live in Florida, have all my life, and I grew up on the water…literally. My dad was a fisherman, and so were many of my cousins. The water is a big part of my life and I could never imagine living anywhere except close to it.
Thanks for sharing those amazing photos.
PS……love you site, can’t wait to look at it everyday.

You lucky, lucky girl to live in such a beautiful area! I just love the smell of saltwater and would love to live in such a beautiful area. I’m surrounded by trees in every direction. And while it is nice to have trees and lakes, It would be nice to experience living near a harbour with all that wonderful seafood! Nice crab!

Hi Leslie, Love all the pictures and that boat is just beautiful. You are so lucky to be right in the action for the festival! Love the cards you did the past couple of days with the NEW mini stuff! Especially the cards and mini tote. This set was not on my list, but I might have to order it now! Have a great week, Hugs, Jennifer :)
