Still Going Strong
Just a couple of garden photos I took this morning. Gee, September must be pink month. I do have blue, white and coral out there, too, but this is what caught my eye. These look a lot like lilies but they’re Amaryllis, commonly known as Naked Ladies — so called because the stems have no leaves at bloom time. In early Spring the leaves will fill their garden spot, then gradually die away over summer. In late August Plum colored stems emerge bearing the buds that open into these lilac-pink pretties in September. I think these are pretty common. Maybe you have some, too?
The next photo is Autumn Joy Sedum. It looks great all summer while the buds are green, but in late August/early September they open all soft and fuzzy pale pink, turning gradually darker as the season advances. These have been open for a few weeks. Can you believe it’s the middle of September already?
Back to stamping shortly…have a fine day!

I always just salivate over your garden photos — they are just so gorgeous — what a garden!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
What beautiful flowers! Before I moved into an apartment, I had a beautiful flower bed with lots of seasonal colors. I always enjoyed the new flowers coming in each season to take the place of the older ones. The amaryllis are awesome!
I have to ask, though, is that a white bug on the top left bloom?
Thanks for gorgeous photos and inspirational projects.
Vicki
Oh two of my favorites! I lost most of my Naked Ladies when I built the garage, but I still have a small grouping in the boulevard. I haven’t seen them this year though. Now my Autumn Joy Sedum is blooming but not as pink as yours. WOW these are fabulous photos.
I think the pink lilies are called “Licorice Lilies” and the white bug looks like a spider!! Just beautiful!! TFS!!
These are Beautiful Photos Leslie. I am not much of a gardener, but I hope to develop more of a green thumb when I retire and have time to spend. I love the Amaryllis!
Absolutly gorgeous!!! {smiles}
So beautiful! I’ve only seen Amaryllis in pots, so it’s nice to see it performing in the garden. My sedum is just starting to bloom, but it’s a more pastel pink. I love the more intense color of yours better. Linda
What bug/spider? Missed it the first time, but it looks like a seed to me. ;D We grew some Amaryllis here by accident and loved them! One terribly hot Hawaiian summer, they just died and never resurfaced again. Love, love, love spending time in your garden. Beutiful photos!
Wonderful photos! I do love pinks … but I really didn’t know that there is a pink Amaryllis. It must have taken you much love and a long time to develop your beautiful gardens! Hope you have a sitting area convenient for steady gazing!

Thanks for sharing the photos of your Amaryllis and Autumn Joy Sedum in bloom! Both are so very beautiful!
Well, I was going to say that I love those Naked Ladies, but that sounds a bit inappropriate, LOL!!!!
Beeeeuuutt-ful!
