Season of Joy

Published by leslierich at 10:25 pm under Cards, Stampin' Up! projects

Season of JoyI finally used my Season of Joy set.  In fact, it took me three days to finish this card because I’ve been a little worn out in the evenings.  Due to a flare up of an aggravating foot problem I’ve been not so much walking as lurching around like Frankenstein at work all week.  Lurching takes more energy than ordinary walking so I haven’t had much left over for creativity.  I think it’s finally getting better, though.

The papers I used are Stampin’ Up!’s Apple Cider collection along with a piece of So Swirly wheeled background I had left over from another project.  The scalloped border was made by cutting along the edge of a row of overlapping circles that pattern one of the sheets in the collection.  I used my Sakura clear glitter pen on the star and the flower centers.

I finally counted up my Christmas cards because it seems like I’ve been making an awfully lot of of them and I still have several in mind to make this year.  The total came to 61.  Not too many, I guess, unless you think of it in terms of the extra postage many of them will require.  I think a trip to USPS online is in order because these will start going in the mail soon.  When do you start mailing out your Christmas cards?

I’ve got to run now, so I’ll leave you with a wish for a very happy Friday and a great weekend.  I’ll see you again soon!

Stamps:  Season of Joy, So Swirly jumbo wheel

Paper:  Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Apple Cider designer paper

Ink:  Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Basic Black, Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana

Accessories:  Offray Ribbon, 1/2″ circle punch, eyelets, Scotch brand dimensional mounting tape

Wonderful card, Leslie. Wow! 61 cards is impressive. I usually send mine out about December 10th. I just bought some lovely stamps yesterday for them. We have received 2 cards already, though. Hope you get to feeling much better soon.

After all the cards already made with Season of Joy you still come up with original ideas. I am impressed! Love the scalloped cut edge along the DP, your Swirly BG, eyelets and beautiful ribbon. They all add so much interest and dimension to your beautifully colored main image. TFS

Whoops, your main image is not colored, but made special by cutting out and having out of the box and beautifully framed. Thanks again, Nancy

Gorgeous card!!! I’m sorry to hear about your foot problem– I can relate!!! Feet problems are torture– especially when you have to move around a lot!!!
I rarely get my Christmas cards sent out until the week before and during Christmas break!!! Kinda sad, I know…hopefully before New Year’s Day, at least!!!:)
Thanks for all of the wonder inspiration!!! Every time I look at your blog I just want to pull out my stamps and get to it!!!

Oh how I love this bright and cheery Christmas card! I really do like this set. Wonderful design and use of the designer papers. Nice out-of-the-box touch with the tree. The fancy red ribbon and red eyelets echo the scallops and circles so nicely. And 61 Christmas cards! That’s quite a few more than I’ve made. I’d better get cracking! Linda

Love this card, and what immediately caught my eye is how you used the design in the paper to create your scallop — wonderful!!! Love that vintage looking lace/ribbon as well!!! So sorry to hear about your foot — hope its better by now — I know I’m behind the times here!!! And 61 cards - you put me to shame!!! I’d like to mail mine in early December, but I never do. I TRY to get them in the mail by the 15th. Often, that doesn’t happen either!! I have been known, on rare occasion, to mail them after Christmas — LOL!!!
