New From SU!
My new Stampin’ Up! order finally arrived and I mounted this Always set right away and got to work. There were a few sets that caught my eye and I chose three of them for my first order. I think I’ll let the other ones be a surprise for now.
This was a nice change of pace from the baby cards I’ve been doing. It’s totally grown up — a wedding card, in fact. I went with the colors of my new Spring Silhouettes double sided designer paper, stamping the heart in Wild Wasabi and matting it on Soft Sky. There are a few sentiments with the Always set but this one from In My Thoughts better suited the purpose of this card.
Sometimes I get more involved in the construction of the card than the actual stamping of it and in this case the stamping is very simple — just the heart and the sentiment. I was focusing on incorporating the acetate border there along the front edge of the card. I wanted sort of a suspended, floating three dimensional look to it and the result is much more elegant and interesting than it appears in the photo. I cut the front of the card about 1 3/4″ short and used red liner tape to adhere the acetate panel under the front edge. The designer paper border on the outer edge of the acetate is a 1″ strip, scored lengthwise down the middle. When it was folded I punched the inner corners with the ticket corner punch. It was then fitted like a binding over the edge of the acetate and adhered with red liner tape. The tape is hidden within the fold of the binding so all you see is a nicely finished edge.
The ribbon, which wraps all the way around the front of the card, covers the red liner adhesive on the other side of the acetate. The striped paper panel is a border that’s adhered along the edge of the inside white lining of the card. I didn’t have time to take pictures of the whole process like I usually do, but here’s a photo of the inside of the card:
I wasn’t planning on matting the sentiment like this but I made a mess of my stamping and it required some strategic cover up. I guess it adds some balance and decoration to the inside of the card. Overall, I’m happy with it.
That’s it for today! I spent my afternoon at a baby shower and my evening cleaning and preparing for a stamp party on Sunday. I’d sure like to do some more stamping this weekend but we’ll just have to wait and see. Thanks for stopping in for a visit! Have a great day!

I’ve been looking at this set too, Leslie! I don’t think I could make it THAT pretty though! Love the details–the paper, the bling!
Such a wonderfully gorgeous creation. I love the light and cheery tones. Beautiful image. I have yet to make my first order - I’ve just spent too much elsewhere for now. I really like the DP.
Oh Leslie, this is just beautiful! I did make my first order, not this set, and I’m still waiting for it to arrive!
Beautiful!!
This is breathtaking Leslie! I love the acetate along the side….will definately give this a try. Somehow I knew that this set would be amongst the first that you ordered. I’m betting I know a couple of the other sets too…but then again you could always surprise me. I love the colors that you used. I will have to take a look at the designer paper as it didn’t catch my eye…until now.
Bring on the pretty flowers!
Linda

What an awesome card with the peek-a-boo acetate panel. I will have to try this. And I love this set - mine is coming tomorrow.
Gorgeous! Love it…the acetate panel is pure genius! I have some acetate laying around, and this might be just the inspiration I need! This set is due to arrive on my doorstep tomorrow, so I feel a case coming on!
So beautiful and elegant. Love your new stamp set and DP. TFS
This card is so lovely and creative! The colors are gorgeous and the DP is too.
*GASP* *Squeal!* *Thud!* OMGosh this is gorgeous, Leslie!! How did you know to use my favorite new set with my favorite new paper?! LOL! The colors are just so elegant and serene. They’re both on my wish list but I’m not allowed to order anything until February (I’m grounding myself for spending too much last quarter.) And, that clear border is so cool; what a novel idea! I love how you wrapped the paper around to cover the tape, that’s always my biggest issue with acetate. It’s just beautiful!
Oh my goodness! This is stunning! I love the acetate border and beautiful colors! The sentiment you chose is perfect, and I love all the bling! So romantic and perfect, Leslie!!
This is gorgeous! Thanks so mich for expalining the acetate border - what fantastic idea! That set is in my order that has been in picking since Friday morning - hoping it will ship tomorrow.
Oh this is smashing!!! I love this set and these papers, as we discussed. I like how the colors are soft and cheerful at the same time. And your use of the acetate is a fantastic effect! Pure genius! So nice how you take such care to make sure all is neat and tidy, such as no exposed tape. Wonderful finishing touch with the rhinestones, and you know I love that ribbon. By now your stamp party might be over with. I hope you had fun. Linda
This is just gorgeous!!! I love your acetate strip — just brilliant!!! I really love this set and mine should arrive at the end of the week!!! These colors are so refreshing, and the clear — well — CLEARLY WONDERFUL!!!! AMAZING WORK!!!

Fantastic card. Thanks for posting the how-to of the acetate. I’m going to have to give this a try.
What a beautiful card! This set caught my eye right away too. I love how you used the acetate.
Wow, this is fabulous, Leslie! What a great design with the acetate piece and the bound edge! I was contemplating this DP–well I’m not anymore, you sold me on it! The heart, rhinestones and ribbon are all perfect with the paper!
Leslie, I think I’m on “Cloud Nine” …. I ordered this very set for my first order, and have just gotten it sealed & mounted in the last 24 hours! Now my challenge will be to do it a worthy job, as you have (and I’m sure you will again!).
The heart image in this set was a little too large for me to use on my stampers club project for tonight, or I would have utilized it. Now your card has given me the inspiration to use it for classes next month. I just love these images, especially with the Leslie “touch”.
