Ultra-Simple Hostess Club Project

About a week or so ago my old SU! Hostess Club gang got together for a party.  We’re not really a club anymore because everyone was doing more collecting than stamping, so now there’s no obligation to buy — just come and have fun!  I loved the design of the “double accordian gate fold card that stays closed without tying” (and makes its own border) — instructions here – so I made that our project of the day.  We made matching 2468 boxes, too.  I wanted to use my new Always set and give it a fun Valentine look:

Always Card and Box

I’m a little short on current SU! designer paper since it retires as fast as I can buy it, so we used some of last year’s Au Chocolat paper with Purely Pomegranate for contrast.  I also had to throw in some non-SU! turn mounts to have enough to go around.  It would be nice if we could buy some of those Hodgepodge Hardware pieces separately, wouldn’t it?  I guess it would be impossible to have everything in one catalog.

We did all the cutting and scoring with the Fiskars cutter sold by SU!  I added the eyelets and the scallop punch feature later.  The girls and I do entirely too much visiting to be able to get much done at our parties so the simpler, the better.  I let them do all their own cutting and scoring so they’d be better able to recreate this on their own.  It was tons of fun!

I don’t have any pictures of the construction of this particular 2468 box but it’s similar to the box in this picture:

Box Little Gifts

Cut paper 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  Insert lengthwise in cutter and score at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″.  Turn and score across at 2″.  Slit the bottom as shown in the photo and trim away the last little 1/2″ bottom section.  Fold up and adhere closed like a box.  It’s pinched together at the top and closed with a little clippie.  Pretty simple stuff!  Happy Tuesday and happy stamping to all!

Stamps:  Always

Paper:  Purely Pomegranate, Au Chocolat (retired), Very Vanilla

Ink:  Purely Pomegranate

Accessories:  Chocolate Taffeta ribbon, turn mount, brad, eyelets, clippie, small corner rounder, scallop circle punch, 1 1/4″ circle punch, 1/2″ circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Scotch brand dimensional mounting tape

Thank you again Leslie, we did have a ton of fun and did get in lots of visiting and stamping. Thanks too for letting me make my card and box out of my Ginger Blossom DP. All the projects were a little diff. because of using diff. sides of DP. Really, really fun. I am a demo now (because of my upline…Leslie :-) ), but I still got to join our awesome group. Happy stamping to all, Nancy

Super pretty Leslie! I love the Pomegranite paired with the Au Chocolat paper! As for your paper stash…at least you use your paper. I never seem to be brave enough to use mine (something I vowed to get better at in 2008). I still have my Au Chocolat paper which is mostly intact! :-)

These are very striking! Love the gate fold closure and isn’t that taffeta ribbon yummy? OK, is it just me, or does that “a” inside the circle not seem to go with the rest of the Always set? I love the stamps, but the set seems kind of like there are two different sets in one.

How pretty and fun! And I love the fact that you let them cut/score their own so they’d know how to do it - great rationalization there, missy!! LOL! Just kidding you! I’m sure great fun was had by all! (but I will have to remember that strategy for future stamp clubs… ) :)

    Ultra cute as well!!!!

What a fun project — I must try that fold on your card!!! I agree with you totally about things retiring before we get to use them — LOL!!! And boy, there is sure a lot of items from the catty I wish I could order in bulk so I’d have enough to go around — always a problem!!! I’m sure everyone had so much fun making these — so nice of you to have them over!!! Lucky girls!!!

Wow! How lucky are those women to just come over & stamp, visit, and enjoy the fellowship … plus your designs! These projects are both wonderful! I love 2468 boxes … but the funny this is that when I first read your text, I thought you meant that you made 2,468 of them! **gasp** Then I re-read … whew! That’s what I get for trying to do something (reading) fast! hahaha

How nice to see your Hostess Club projects! I love both of them, and can see why you had so much with them. Great way to use SU’s dp to make coordinated items, and I had to laugh at your remark about how fast they’re retired quicker than we can buy them. How true, so why do I keep buying them? Linda

WOW, I just love the AuChocolat with pomegranate!! Awesome designs!
