Stampin’ Up! Today
I sure did intend to have more than one card for this post but things just didn’t work out as planned. Card #2 turned into a disaster and my stamp room became an even bigger disaster during the process of trying to either salvage something from the wreckage or come up with a new plan. I decided sleep was more important at this point so here it is — my one card.
This is a very “Stampin’ Up!” card. My friend Nancy Littrell came over for a stamping play date last Saturday and brought this Blooming With Love set with her. I watercolored the image with inks and then tried to match it up with some SU! designer paper. I was trying to keep it all SU! and this retired Spring Showers paper was the best fit, although it looks a little dated to me because of the paper. Darn, I really need to step into the 21st century when it comes to SU! I’ll try harder next time. I’d like to make an effort to use my gazillion SU! sets more often…
I felt it needed something to brighten it up a little so I looked to the Ways To Use It Challenge and snip, snip, snipped some flowers from the Vases In Vogue set to accent the lower corner. I do love how nicely many of the SU! sets mix and match.
Well, I must try to get some sleep now. One more day of work then two days of relative freedom. Enjoy your weekend!
- Stamps: Blooming With Love, Vases in Vogue
- Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Brocade Blue, Very Vanilla, watercolor paper, retired Spring Showers designer paper
- Ink: Jet Black Stazon, various for watercoloring
- Accessories: Retired SU! Bluebird grosgrain ribbon, ticket corner punch, 1 1/4″ circle punch, brads, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

This is so pretty Lesley! That Blooming with Love set is the one that keeps calling to me when I look at the catalog - so far I have resisted.
That paper is great with it, who cares if it’s older paper?
Beautiful card! I love the colors you used, and your coloring is just gorgeous! Frankly, I wouldn’t know if it’s older paper or not. What I DO KNOW is that it looks perfect on this card!
This card is so gorgeous!! Your coloring is fabulous! The wheelbarrow has so much depth and is so dimensional looking. Love the colors and the DP.
Lovely bouquet, love that wheelbarrow too, great coloring, how neat to find bigger flowers to match for the corner! Like how you have highlighted the sentiment!
I love that wheelbarrow — and I love what you’ve done with it! Your coloring is so pretty…love that ‘dirt’ effect.
As with all your work, it’s a beautiful card.
This is so cute Leslie! LOVE the “old” set and paper! Love the colors and coloring too!!
SO cute! I love how you cut out the flowers to match. Isn’t it interesting how some designer papers “age” better than others?
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, what seems less inspiring to you … seems SO inspiring to others! (Speaking of myself!) I don’t have either of these sets .. yet I’m sitting here wishing I had purchased BOTH sets! I’m on an SU “easy freeZe” this year … trying to hold strong … this is not helping! My easy-freeze means that I’m trying to purchase ONLY what I will demo and sell this year … a far cry from my previous business motto! Even though I truly do love this … please don’t help me change my “plan”! lol
Oh this is just lovely! I love the colors and the background papers you used here. Also the flowers SOOO match those in the wheelbarrow. As usual your work is just plain “art!”
Beautiful. I wish I could color like you.
Leslie, this is just gorgeous! Your wheelbarrow looks 3-D the way you colored it.
Leslie, I just love how your card turned out with your beautiful wheelbarrow image. Here we were sitting side by side watercoloring our hearts out and yet our images and then later our cards turned out so different! We just have so much fun and I really, really appreciated the 3 hours you spent “teaching” me new watercoloring techniques. Thank you, thank you again! Your buddy, Nancy
This is adorable!!! Love the wheel barrow full of flowers with the earth at the base - so nicely colored!!! Great papers and flowers, too — just perfect!!!
Very Cute card! I really like the stamp and the coloring is fabulous
I love it! I love that paper! You did such a great job! on that card
This is so beautiful, Leslie!! I love your coloring, and the papers are so lovely with your design!! I also love the addition of your cut flowers!!
Very pretty! Love your coloring!
Such a gorgeous card, love your dp!!!
Finally a set that I can relate too. The card is beautiful. Thanks for doing SU for a change. Love your website though.
Just love it! I still love that paper and you always make everything look trendy to me! I still love the look of all of it and it’s SU’s loss that it’s retired,eh? Love your coloring too! Wahoo!
Great card! I think this paper looks great with your project, what are you talking about?? I love this paper and still have some too, how can nice designer paper look dated? All the flowers work so well, anyone would love to receive your lovely card.
Oh your watercoloring is phenomenal!
Very pretty design, Leslie! I love how you watercolored the focal image, especially the shading around the wheelbarrow. It adds so much dimension and interest. The ribbon and those cut out flowers are also wonderful additions. Linda
WOW! Your watercoloring is gorgeous! Fantastic card!
