Hearty Vase

Published by leslierich at 10:08 pm under Cards, Rubbernecker

This is probably my favorite image from Rubbernecker Stamp Co. – no surprise, probably, since I love flowers so much.  But this, in particular, has such a free flowing, light and cheerful personality.  I was tempted to do it in pinks and grays, but I just finished a pink card this weekend so…Guava it is!

Hearty Vase May08

Actually, it was this Cuttlebugged piece from my scrap drawer that helped me decide the colors.  I know the ink is Guava but the cardstock might be Marigold Morning.  At any rate, I thought they looked good together and I love the way the hearts in the paper carry the theme.

The image is watercolored with inks.  The sentiment is from Rubbernecker, too, and it’s one I picked up as a companion for this vase — two favorites on one card.  I hope you like it, too!  Here’s a list of the essentials:

  • Stamps:  Hearty Vase - SKU:  20 SO CM, Petite Can’t Express - SKU:  2000-03
  • Paper:  Wild Wasabi, Marigold Morning, Apple Cider designer paper from SU!, 140 lb. cold pressed watercolor
  • Inks:  Jet Black Stazon, Groovy Guava, Really Rust, Going Gray, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip
  • Accessories:  Ribbon, brad, Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug embossing folder, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Tuesday, once again, brings the opportunity to win Rubbernecker Bucks — this time from Broni or Kittie.  But that’s not all — it’s Treasure Hunt time at Rubbernecker Stamp Co.  If you’re in the mood for some adventure, go here to find a clue to a free stamp!  Enjoy!

Very pretty image, and everything coordinates so well! I just have one question- Did you apply G.Guave dye ink directly to the embossing folder prior to running it through (I did think that pigment was to be used), or did you color the raised areas after embossing? If you did the latter, what did you use to apply the guava color? I love this!

This is gorgeous! I love the soft and loose watercoloring. It’s fun to see this designer paper used for a card that’s not a fall theme, like it usually is!

This is gorgeous Leslie. It is totally different from the same image that Sherry and Jeanne used today. Too funny that you were all on the same page. I love seeing the differences in style!

Beautiful coloring, shading and highlighting of the words!

  23. Julia (artystamper)on 07 May 2008 at 8:50 am

Love the stamping on the watercolor paper - wonderful colors - looks like a lovely livingroom or ‘parlor’!!

  24. Rose Annon 07 May 2008 at 1:28 pm

I agree, that is a beautiful image….especially when you put your touch into it! Your coloring is beautiful, and I love your papers and embossing!!

(I posted your card today, and tried to “fix” the creases with my photo program. If you look along the left edge, you can notice the damage more. I thought it wasn’t too bad that I shouldn’t post it. What do you think?)

  25. Bethany Paullon 07 May 2008 at 2:12 pm

Wow! There’s so much depth in your painting, and it still has a soft, aged look. Amazing.

Leslie, this is such gorgeous. You have such a light touch with your coloring which I admire as I many times get too heavy handed and over do. I love the airy feel of this card and the color choices are wonderful. I too love how you carried the heart theme from the paper on with the delicate little heart shape of the leaves.

Gorgeous! I just received this stamp at an SCS WNY stamping event and have been thinking about what to do with it! I saw what you and Jeanne S. have done with it, and I am going to make my Mother’s Day cards with it! Two totally different designs, but equally beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh my! I love how you watercolored this image, especially how you’ve managed to achieve softness with these intense colors. A really beautiful card, Leslie. Linda
