A New Floral from Flourishes
There’s another gorgeous floral set in the Flourishes store now! This one is called Peony.
There are so many color choices when it comes to peonies. I wanted to stamp this dozens of times and color every one of them but I settled on a classic pink and yellow combination. I stamped it with Creamy Caramel and colored with chalks. Stamping in a light color like Caramel results in an image that looks more like a solid stamp than an outline. I had a soft look in mind for a card that appears to be fashioned from a page torn from an old botanical field guide.
After the image was colored I smudged it with my Close to Cocoa ink pad, directly from the pad to the paper. I distressed the edges a bit and mounted it on BasicGrey Perhaps designer paper. The main image panel is adhered only in the top left corner. It’s not often I mount a main image without using dimensional tape but it didn’t seem right for this card. With the image adhered loosely there’s still a bit of a dimensional feel to it.
Now…this was hard for me…but I finally decided to stop hoarding my deliciously decadent chocolate organdy ribbon. This color is my favorite of all the organdies at Flourishes. “Yum” is the most descriptive word that comes to mind.
I’ll be sharing more with this set as soon as possible but tomorrow I’ll be using another new stamp set from Flourishes. I’m pretty excited about that one, too. They’re making beautiful stamps faster than I can use them. If only I had more of me to go around!
Let’s meet here again tomorrow, okay? Until then, take care and have a great day!

Leslie - this is beyond stunning! Great tip to use the lighter ink to stamp with! I need to try that! Of course you always ROCK those chalks!

This is stunning! One of my favorite flowers…you have portrayed this beautifully!!
This is gorgeous! Soooo pretty!
Oh so GORGEOUS!!!!
Ok - I give up. Your expertly colored Peony isnpired me to buy this stamp set from Flourishes. I waited (not so patiently) and waited for it to ship. When the Peony set finally arrived, I immediately followed your recipe, stamping the peony in Creamy Caramel and filling it in with chalks. My results were pathetically embarrassing. Much too muted despite the numerous layers of chalk. Won’t you please tell me what brand of chalks you used?
You know how much I like Peonies, and this one is no exception! Another wonderful, subtle coloring job with the chalks. You’ve definitely achieved the botanical look here, and your distressed and “loose” layers design only adds to the effect. How nice you’ve released some of that wide Chocolate Organdy ribbon. Linda
