From the Jeanne Streiff Collection

Published by leslierich at 10:36 pm under Cards, Rubbernecker

JeanneS ChocoLeaves June08Hello, friends!  I’m happy to say I now have several of the new Jeanne Streiff stamps from Rubbernecker.  Today I used a stamp called Just Leaves and I think it’s Just Beautiful.  I’m always drawn to this sort of image with its soothing, graceful lines.  I think this one’s my favorite so I reached for it first.  That is, today it’s my favorite…tomorrow is another day.

I made this card in the manner I most enjoy.  Not only do I like the earthy colors and the distressing, but I mixed stamp companies (Rubbernecker and Stampin’ Up!) and combined designer paper (BasicGrey Stella Ruby) with a background stamp (Linen).   Linen, now retired by SU!, is one of the most useful background stamps I’ve ever come across.  If you look at the green card base and the main image panel you’ll see there appears to be a slight texture to the paper.  That’s the Linen background stamp.  I think it’s most amazing that it can be so subtle yet have such impact.

I stamped my leaves in Chocolate Chip.  Then, without reinking the stamp, I used my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig stamp positioner to help me align the stamp slightly offset from the first image and stamped again to create the shadow effect.  I used another all-time favorite stamp, Itty Bitty Backgrounds from SU!, to add a little splatter-sprinkle around the leaves.  This somehow suggests movement.  I don’t know why, but it does.

There’s no sentiment on this because I find it handy to keep cards available that are suitable for any number of occasions.  When the time comes I can stamp something on the inside.  I’ve already lined the inside of the card with a panel of vanilla cardstock and stamped the leaves again there and on the envelope flap.

Thank you for visiting.  I hope I’ll have a chance to share again soon.  Have a great day!

This is so soothing and beautiful. I saw Jeanne’s images advertised and really loved them. Thanks for the shadow tip - good to know. I love both Linen and Itty Bitty Backgrounds. IBB has a permanent spot right on my craft table because it gets used often. Some of the older background stamps are just the best.

OMG Leslie…….what a beauty ! I love the A Artichoke with the gorgeous BG designer paper. Your leaf image is just beautiful and looks like it has been painted on canvas with the Linen BG stamp behind it. Love your distressed edges, lg. brads and ribbon too. A real work of art :-) TFS

This is beautiful Leslie! I love how you stamp a second time offset to make the shadow, you are so smart! And thanks for all the nice comments last night - it’s always so nice when you’ve visited my blog and I get to read a whole string of comments all at once! BTW I want to leave a blanket apology for if I ever have or ever do spell your name “Lesley” instead of “Leslie”!! I have a good friend named Lesley, and nearly every time I type your name I do it wrong and have to backspace and correct it. And with the way by brain DOESN’T work most of the time lately, I have a bad feeling I don’t always notice my mistake. So if I ever have spelled it wrong, or ever do - I’m so sorry!!! ;-)

Ahhh, how gorgeous! I can’t put my finger on it but I miss this look on SCS and other sites. Maybe it is the linen background with the sponging? I’m not sure but this is the type of card that got me hooked to SCS. Thanks for all your beautiful creations! I’d leave a smiley face if I knew how!

Leslie, Leslie, Leslie — this must stop! Everything you post makes me want to rush out and buy more stuff so I can become you. Ugh. You are the worst enabler in the stamping community (the ultimate compliment!!!) (hugs)

I have to say, Jeanne has designed some beautiful silhouette stamps! Your gorgeous card really shows off this particular image - perfect color and paper choices. Nice touch with the shadow. Love your vintage treatment here, and your use of these oldies but goodies SU! stamps. Linda
