New From Flourishes: Mixed Greetings

Published by leslierich at 1:50 am under Cards, Flourishes

Wonderful Flowers Sept08Flourishes has three new sets for you again this month and they’re all fabulous!  Be sure and check out Birds and Vine, Forest of Trees and the set I’m sharing today — Mixed Greetings.  They’re offering a bundle discount, too.  If your heart desires, now through Sept. 17 buy all three sets and receive them at a 10% discount!  See the details here.

I have a few different reasons for loving the Mixed Greetings set but I’m probably a little partial because I helped design it.  Now that was fun for a change!

It was quite some time ago the folks at Flourishes asked the design team what we’d like to see in a stamp set, preferrably something other than flowers.  Oops!  This first card has flowers in it, doesn’t it?  Well, we know where my mind goes…  It’s not all flowers, though.  There are three different bowls, three different contents for the bowls and three different greetings.  All can be mixed and matched.  Any of the bowls can serve as flower pots…if that’s where your mind goes.

Now, my hand has a mind of it’s own when it comes to drawing so I certainly didn’t draw this set.  Diane Roche, saw to that.  I worded the greetings and submitted a rough idea of the images to Flourishes, along with a few specifications as to how it should “work”.  Diane refined it all and I think she did a beautiful job.  Thank you, Diane!

On the first card is a solid image bowl, or pot, stamped in Palette Cognac and shaded a little with soft chalks.  The background shading is done with chalks, as well, but the flowers are colored with markers.  The designer papers are BasicGrey Perhaps and all other materials are from Stampin’ Up!

Bowls Sept08

I just loved making all these glazed ceramic bowls.  They’re stamped first in Versamark, then in SU! inks and clear embossed.  The fruit is colored with a combination of soft chalks, markers and the Inkssentials white opaque pen.  Everything is cut out and the fruit bowl and border strip are on dimensional foam tape.  The papers are scraps from last Fall.  They’ve been cut several times and I’m sorry but I don’t remember the name of the line.

The idea with this set is that it’s supposed to be easy — bowls that don’t require coloring and contents that require just enough coloring to be fun.  There’s also no masking necessary — the contents simply fit right down on the top edges of the bowls.  You can do a little or a lot, whatever strikes your fancy.

Mail in a Bowl Sept08

My last card uses the remaining images in the Mixed Greetings set as well as one of the birds from the Birds and Vine set.  Someone is very lucky to receive all that mail — as long as it’s not bills.  I’ll bet they’re all hand stamped greeting cards.  I liked the way the script design in the Scarlet’s Letter paper worked with this image.

That wraps it up today for Mixed Greetings.  Be sure and check with these gals for a variety of samples with all the new sets:

  • Barb
  • Faith
  • Julie
  • Linda
  • Susan
  • Sharon D.
  • I’ll be back with more new release samples with one of the other sets tomorrow.  Enjoy your day!

Now isn’t that just like you, Leslie? Such humility. You are much too modest about your design work. Your set is stunning, and I adore the mix and match options, not to mention the flowers. I adore the set’s versatility. Your set is definitely a must have for me and an honor to own a Leslie original.
