A Card Revisited
Today I’m sharing a card I made quite some time ago because, quite frankly, I struggled today to make a birthday card with a new SU! set and in the end I disliked it intensely. It was the colors, I’m sure, that were all wrong. Oh, my gosh, it was the most dull thing I’ve ever seen! While I was in my computer files I came across this card and was struck by how right it feels to me. The only thing I’d change today is the ribbon — I’d make it wider and cut the ends shorter.
I made this at a time when I shied away from designer papers. I made my own with background stamps and always had the exact color and pattern I needed. I leaned toward this very feminine, soft, almost vintage style. Times and styles do change, don’t they? But I see this and I think I need to revisit this place more often. Not, perhaps to live there, but just to set a spell now and then.
I’ll try to have something a little more up to date next time, specifically a prettier remake of that dreadful thing that came out of my stamp room today. Old stamps or new, it’s all about the pleasure of creating and I enjoy every moment of it. Till next time, happy stamping to all!
- Stamps: Perfect Petals, Linen, Noteworty (all retired SU!), Floral, Great Impressions sentiment
- Paper: Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
- Ink: Basic Black, Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Pink Passion, Craft White
- Accessories: Ribbon, dragonfly charm, silver cord, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

This is such a pretty card! Isn’t it funny how we keep changing the way we stamp? Doesn’t mean we didn’t like the way we used to do it, we just keep evolving. It’s fun to “go back” sometimes. Thanks for sharing this card.
A soft and pretty card! TFS
Old or new…yours style is always gorgeous!! I love this, Leslie!! It’s soft, feminine, and beautiful!! I love the vintage feel and the darling charm!! Thanks for visiting your past, and sharing it with us!!
Leslie, this is gorgeous! I miss those times of making our own background paper. I have so many beautiful background stamps that I can’t bear to part with, whether old fashioned or not.
BEAUTIFUL WORK ….THANKS FOR SHARING
Very lovely card. The colors are calming and serene. - Always fun to look back on where we’ve been. By the way I find it hard to believe that you could make anything look (miserable or pathetic).
This is so pretty. I love your background - it’s very soft and elegant….pretty as any DP I’ve seen. I guess we all have our days when cards look like “duds” to us. That goes with the territory I guess. I’m sure your re-make will be gorgeous.
I love it, I love pretty and elegant and this is!!!
I think this card is beautiful and timeless! Although I love designer paper, I really love the cards from the “old days” when the cards were stamping-only. Now I feel a little guilty about all my background stamps gathering dust!
This is just gorgeous Leslie! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex
Absolutely gorgeous!
Looks like a thoroughly Modern Millie to me with a touch of vintage showing. I love it! I can’t get into so many of the funny animal stamps today; unless it be chickens/roosters, birds, butterflies or bees! I guess just not my style. I did buy Fishy Friends and Hang In There at a yard sale for $5 each, but isn’t something I would pay big bucks for.
A beautiful oldie and, YES, so very leslierich!!! It reminds me of being a newbie at SCS, falling head over heals in love with your gallery, and just drooling and swooning over all of your creations, and your coloring, oh my!!!! That’s what really got me!!! And you are STILL coloring beautifully, perhaps better than ever, and I am still *trying* — LOL!!! You are right, things change, but really not that much — LOL!!!
Leslie, it’s so beautiful! Ilove the focal panel, the colours, the different inks on the sentiment..the ribbon and dragonfly. I know the feeling of not liking something I made, and coming back to it later with a different feel for it. I remember that time period…designer papers were for scrapbooking, and I rarely used them for cards. Not today! I love this now…and I have a feeling I would have loved it then too!
As always….just beautiful and so very creative! I love seeing the new things you come up with. It SO inspires me…I just wish I had the time to CASE your work. Have too much going on in my life right now….and hope that in the near future I will be able to get back into the swing of this blogging thing.
Leslie, I would just say the card is elegant and so beautiful. I don’t think anyone will complain by having to look at this eye candy. It is lovely in every way.
It might not be new but it is still a very pretty card! I think a wider ribbon would be better but that’s all I would change.
Lestlie, everything you touch is beautiful as is this card - very beautiful, classic and soft.
Leslie, this is just beautiful, but I’m one of your biggest fans
If my older projects looked like this I would post all of them!! Beautiful work.
Beautiful background and stamped image, so love the little dragonfly charm w/ribbon!
I love the vintage feel of this card. I guess we tend to get caught up in the new things available in the market, but it really is nice to go back & see the beautiful projects that were created before the DS paper became so pretty. Your card is lovely! I, too, have background stamps that I cannot get rid of!
This is a beautiful, soft and elegant card! Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful, Leslie, as always. So soft! (I still love that Noteworthy set!)
Leslie, I love this card! Love the soft and vintage look! The embellishment is very pretty… Love the background stamped paper. Sorry that you didn’t like the card you tried to do. Maybe it was not a good day. Hope that tomorrow you will feel better about this! I really appreciate that you stopped at my blog!
Yes this is completely and totally “right” in every way.. gorgeous.. elegant.. perfect.
Beautifully done! I’m not a dragonfly admirer yet, but even that dragonfly charm is perfectly set to accompany this beautiful image!

Very pretty! And how long ago did you make this?? Just gorgeous!
[…] a previous post I mentioned I’d made a frightfully dull version of this card. In fact, this is the fourth […]
This card really caught my eye - so soft and gorgeous - and I guess this is the style I still think of when I think of you!
