The Card That Defied Making

Published by leslierich at 2:00 am under Cards, Stampin' Up! projects

Finally…I finished the card that didn’t want to be made.  We went toe to toe in a couple of lengthy matches but in the end I wrestled it down and pinned it.

UpsyDaisy BlueBD Sept08

In a previous post I mentioned I’d made a frightfully dull version of this card.  In fact, this is the fourth version of the main image.  I just couldn’t get happy with it!  There was nothing to be done but start over from scratch.  Still, when I finished this I thought it doesn’t look much like a celebration.  But then, there are raucous celebrations and quiet celebrations and I guess you can see which kind this would be.  It was almost too quiet, though, so I added the Artful Collage Prima to perk it up a bit.  It’s still very restrained but soft rather than dull, I think (I hope).  Anyway, it’s in the mail now so I hope she likes it.

There’s not much of anything to explain about how I did this card, which makes it all the more puzzling as to why I had such a difficult time with it.  Some things must remain a mystery.  The card recipe is listed below.  Have a wonderful day!

  • Stamps:  Upsy Daisy (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Paper:  Soft Sky, Whisper White textured and plain, Wild Wasabi, retired SU! designer paper
  • Ink:  Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi
  • Accessories:  SU! Ribbon, eyelets, Prima, Rain Dot (in flower center), mat pack and paper piercier, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Still, such a beautiful card. I love that image. This card is very soft and peaceful. (Even if you did have a wrestling match with it.)

I love your description of making this card and TOTALLY relate! I think it’s an absolutely lovely card and you should be proud of it - especially that you whipped its butt! I love the color combo and I’m definitely going to have to get that upsy daisy set - this cinches it!

This turned out very pretty. I really like this stamp and need to get it while still on sale (I think until the end of the month.) Your colors are a great choice and I love your touch with your ribbon. Great card!

Funny how inanimate objects can win at times…I have battles with cards quite often and it always feels good when you have “won”.

I love the soft colours and would be delighted to receive it myself.

Very pretty card, soft and quiet, like a perfect, calm summer day! If I were receiving it, I would be very pleased…isn’t it funny how hard we can be on ourselves at times!

Well in the end…it turned out simply lovely : ) ! I’m so glad to hear that one of my stamping heros (that’s you) has fighting matches with cards now & then. I still lose a a fair number of my battles, but it’s getting better…I don’t give up as easily, lol! Great to pop over and see all your beautiful creations. Always an awe-inspiring visit :)

I was thrilled to find this beautiful card in my stack of mail yesterday. Just home from our 1 month long trailer camping trip. I know so well how some cards are so difficult to finish, but I love the results of your efforts Leslie. Thank you so much of thinking of me on my birthday my friend. Nancy
