Doodlin’ Love

Published by leslierich at 12:35 am under Cards, Stampin' Up! projects

Doodle That Love Dec08Hello!  I’m thinking ahead to Valentines so I thought I’d get a few made in case my friends at work need a little something.  I’ve always enjoyed sending Valentines.  I only have one sweetie but I think it’s a nice time to let anyone know how special they are to you.

This sweet little heart is from Stampin’ Up!’s retired Doodle That set.  I think it’s just as cute now as when it was brand new.  I colored it with my Prismacolor markers and accented it with a gold flower brad which I ordered from the Paper Wishes catalog.  The sentiment is from another retired SU! set — Love Matters.

This card size is 7 3/4″ x 3 3/4″.  I have envelopes this size so now and then I like to make a card to fit, and the design seemed suited to a tall, narrow card.

About the Cuttlebug embossing:  In order to fully emboss the long, white panel I inserted the paper in the folder as far as it would go, and embossed through the Cuttlebug.  Then I turned the paper around and embossed the other end.  I was able to match up the pattern just fine.

I hope you enjoyed this card.  It’s one of my favorites, but so very simple.  Have a wonderful day!

  • Stamps:  Doodle That, Love Matters (both retired Stampin’ Up!)
  • Paper:  Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White, Neenah Classic Solar White, gold mirror metallic
  • Ink:  Palette Noir, Prismacolor markers for coloring
  • Accessories:  Offray ribbon, brads, Spellbinders scallop circle die, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

It’s about time I let you in on a little secret. I’m in love. Head over heels, doing cartwheels in love. With your card. A adore the gold scalloped circle, the heart of course and the stamped ribbon with green shading. Thank you for the tip on how to emboss the longer pieces. Your choice in sentiments is perfect!

Oh, I love that ribbon! The gold mirror paper is a wonderful accent, and your coloring makes that heart look very puffy. Do you use anything to blend the ink? Did you see Ellen’s tip about the CB embossing folders that have a directional image? Here’s the link (scroll down to the photo of the CB folder): http://ellenhutson.typepad.com/in_touch/2008/12/copic-various-ink-techniques.html Her red bird ornaments are very cute too. Linda

Thanks for sharing about the paper….I love Prismacolor pencils and have thought about purchasing the pens……I just cannot afford Copics, no matter HOW I try to justify them in my mind. I love this card as well….Anna Griffin florals are so elegant….and your interpretation is gorgeous.

Oh this is wonderful!! I love that ribbon… I HAVE that ribbon and have never used it. The embossed swiss dots are a perfect backdrop for it. And the scalloped circles using that gold mirrored metallic paper are gorgeous. Love this, Leslie!

Such a cute and pretty card. The swiss dots folder always reminds me of some dresses I had when I was growing up-I always liked the nubby texture of the material. tfs

The mirrored layer makes it all POP and adds such a richness and I LOVE that ribbon — I’ve had it in 2 colors and haven’t used it in ages. Thanks for the reminder!!! A BEAUTIFUL valentine!!!
