Remember Marvin
Many of you have become familiar with Marvin, since he was always such a good sport and didn’t mind if I told the occasional story about him. On Thursday, February 5th, we buried him right here in one of his favorite garden spots. I can hardly begin to tell you how sad I am about that.
I’m telling myself all the usual things, like “he had a good life; he was well loved; we had many sweet years together.” But I miss him. I miss him, soft and purring, curled in the crook of my arm when I go to sleep at night. If Marvin had to choose between his next meal and his next hug, he’d take the hug. He loved to be hugged. Poor Marvin. I loved him and I miss him terribly.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Marvin was lucky to have someone who loved him so much.
So, so sorry to read about Marvin. We lost our male cat several years ago and he,too, is buried in our garden where I can go ‘talk’ to him on occasion. Funny how those sweet little critters worm their way into your heart.
About 6 months after losing him, we decided it was time to get another one to keep our surviving cat company. We ended up with sister kittens that weighed 1 pound apiece. They have been such a joy to have, although our older cat hasn’t always felt that way! And now they weigh 17 pounds (to her 10 pounds)!
Time helps ease the hurt, but you never forget all the wonderful things they did and how much they enriched your life. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Leslie, I wish I could help take away your sadness. Of course you miss Marvin, he was such a sweetie and a source of great comfort and joy to you for so many years. The depth of your grief is testament to the depth of love you and he shared. If his passing didn’t hurt, then you would not have loved. Take some comfort in knowing you gave Marvin a lifetime of love and comfort. As much enrichment he brought you, remember that you gave him that and more and that you provided a wonderful life for him. May you carry Marvin’s warm and loving memory in your heart for the rest of your days. How do I know this? Well, my “first born” was a Jack Russell Terrier. You have my deepest and heartflet condolences.
How sad to lose a good friend. That’s wonderful he got buried in his favorite spot. You will always have your memories of him.
Leslie: I’m sorry to hear about Marvin. It’s never easy to lose a loved pet! We lost our loved kitty Tux almost 3 years ago and she is missed. She too is buried in our backyard. May your wonderful memories of Marvin help you during this difficult time.
I am so sorry to hear about Marvin. Of course you miss him, it’s painful to lose someone you love so dearly. He will always live in your heart and in your memories. We have 4 kitties and I dread the thought of losing one of them someday. My heart is with you.
Leslie, it was with great sadness that I read your post this morning. No matter how much you think you are prepared for the death of a beloved pet you in fact never are. My girl ( a golden retriever/lab cross) died 6 yrs ago in my arms and it was devastating. She was 13 and I knew it was coming but when it happen it still hit me harder then I ever imagined. We don’t have children and she was my world. To some this is silly but I cried for weeks. I just felt such a loss I missed her so much. My house and heart had an emptiness.
She is also burried in our garden. She has a beautiful garden plaque with her picture etched in it along with an adapted rainbow bridge poem as a marker. I now have 2 golden retrievers and I can tell you I feel her presence with me often as I walk my girls. She is never far from me and always in my heart. I also have her portrait hanging in my living along with my goldens so I see her everyday. I know, most people have pictures of there children. I have portraits of my dogs.
Take care and remember it’s ok to hurt for something that you loved and loved you back. Take time to grieve. I wouldn’t have it any other way. As much as I know how much it’s going to hurt the next time I will always have another pet and love them just as hard. To me they are family.
Oh, Leslie. I’m so sad for you. I know exactly what it’s like to lose a loving cat. You’ll always miss Marvin. Tinkerbell died 9 years ago at the age of 17 and I still miss her. Sending you a big virtual hug (((((((((((((()))))))))))))))). Sue
Oh, I am so sorry about Marvin. I have been looking at my 16-year old Pumpkin, who in no way looks or acts 16 years old and I am wondering how much longer I will have with her. I enjoy her every day and know just how you feel! Cyber hugs to you–let it all out and you’ll feel better.
LeAnne & Pumpkin
Dear Leslie,
My sweet cat Rascal died yesterday. I can’t stop crying, I miss her so much. I know exactly
how you are feeling. I know time will help but it is still very hard.
Lori
Leslie, I am so sorry to hear about Marvin. I know how they become like family. I know you will miss him and always remember how special he was to you.
THis past June we had to have our cat, Boots, put to sleep and it was devastating for me and I cried for days. I still miss her. She was 16! We have another indoor cat name named Noah who is 15 and I know his time is coming soon as he is losing weight etc. He gets on my nerves so bad, but I still love him.
I can truly sympathize w/you and I will be thinking of you…
Pinky
So sorry to read about your wonderful pet. Glad he had a beautiful burial spot.
Oh Leslie ~ I am so very sorry about Marvin…I have been there and know what it is like to lose your pet. They are our children. They never expect anything and are always unconditionally loving. When my ‘Copper’ had to be ‘put down’ I knew I would never have another pet again…but my darling daughter was not going to let it be. We found ‘Piper’ at the animal shelter…and my love for her is so amazing I am glad that we found her, even though I will probably have to go through that pain again one day. Your garden is the perfect place for Marvin as it is so very beautiful…You are in my thoughts and prayers!!!
so sorry I know how it feels I had to put my dog of 17 yrs to sleep last year
Hope you feel better with time
Hugs
Norine
so sorry for your loss
I remember how hard it was to put our dog down, and that was almost 20 years ago. Take care..
May the love you have given Marvin be the beginning of a rainbow of memories.
Thinking of you at this time of loss.
Jennifer W.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss…{{{{hugs}}}}. Take time out to grieve and let it all out. Pets bring so much joy and love and memories to our lives.
Hope Jones
Leslie, I’m so sorry you’ve lost Marvin, he was such a cutie and I love the photo of him sleeping in the garden, I’m sure he’s very happy there . One of my 3 kitties loves to sleep in the wild violets. Just the thought of losing even one brings me to tears. I wish there was something I could say to make it better, but we both know - there is nothing. Grieve for Marvin in your own time. Take Care, Dru
So sorry for your loss of Marvin. we lost our Kitty 3 years ago and lost our dog Daisy 11/2 years ago and still miss them dreadfully. it’s so hard to lose our family. knowing how much more empty our lives would’ve been without them is what carries us thru on the days that we miss them so much. my sympathies are with you.
We lost our cat, Norman in January. It is heartbreaking. For a couple weeks I just couldn’t even sit in my recliner without him in my lap purring. He was so special he just can’t be replaced.
I understand and send my deepest sympathy.
Pam
Oh, Leslie…my heart aches for you. I’m so sorry you lost such a good friend. We all know how loving you are, as it seeps out of the cards you make. So hopefully you can find some comfort in knowing that the loving being you are is exactly what Marvin needed. There’s no doubt you gave him all the hugs and love he needed. You are in my prayers. You were here when I needed you. Let us be here when you need us. And remember that those we love continue to live in our hearts and memories!! Many hugs!! Peggy
Leslie, I’m so sorry about Marvin. Big hugs my friend!
So sorry to hear about your kitty…those little “four-legged” friends definitely have a way of becoming part of the family! I am sure he is going to love his new resting place!
I don’t even know you and I’m crying for you. It’s so, so sad when we lose such special members of our family. Marvin is still with you though…some nights you’ll feel him giving you comfort in the crook of your arm. Hugs to you!
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Pets so quickly become an integral part of the family and the road of mourning is always there when one leaves. I love that he can rest now in his favorite part of your restful garden.
I’m so sorry, Leslie. I know how very sad losing a pet can be. I remember reading this post where he had the “twig” on his nose…..that was so cute. That is a part of life, but it still hurts a lot. I’ll be praying for you.
Oh, no… Oh, Leslie… Poor Marvin… I am really sorry you lost him… I know what you feel right now…
Sending you big ((HUGS)) my darling and please know that Marvin was so lucky to have such a wonderful owner who loved and cared for him so much. ((HUGS)) my darling…
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss Leslie. I have always had cats in my life. Right now we are down to just one and he will be 17 years old next month. I know he is on borrowed time right now but I enjoy each day with him because I know how much I’ll miss him when he is gone too. Hugs…
I am sitting here crying for you over the loss of Marvin. We lost our kitty Nack two years ago, she had jumped off the ironing board and landed wrong on the ceramic tile floor, broke her rib and punctured her lung, it was devastating to us! About 2 months later our golden retreiver Nick…(yes Nick and Nack) passed away, she had been suffering from a snakle bit to the head…so I can relate to you…am so sorry, its heartbreaking…..to say the least, both were raised together and losing both at almost the same time was terrible. I feel for you!
I’m so sorry. I know how hard it is to lose a pet that you love so much. I know the ache you feel in your heart. I’m glad Marvin was loved by you.
Oh, Leslie. I am so sorry. I hope you will take comfort in the honor he bestowed upon you with his love. He knew his own kind, you know
Oh, Leslie, I’m so sorry. Animals become such a huge part of our lives — I am so sorry for your loss — what a beautiful place to bury him — I know the memories don’t take the place of the warm cuddly body purring next to you, but I hope you can take some comfort in your loving memories of him.
Oh, geez, sorry, I did not know my “colon parenthesis” would turn into a grinning smiley, aaack.
I was so sorry to hear about Marvin. I’m sure that in the future you will have many memories to remember - to laugh and cry! Take this time to be sad but have the knowledge that you had the wonderful opportunity to have him be part of your life.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Pets are truly part of the family and I know you are grieving. Take comfort that he had a happy life.
I am so very sorry about your beautiful kitty. He looks like such a sweetheart.
Michele
You have my deepest, sincerest sympathy on the loss of Marvin, obviously a dear and loved family member. I sit here with tears in my eyes for you as I read your blog and also as I remember my own loss of a dearly loved black lab many years ago. Marvin was a beautiful cat and I so enjoyed seeing your pictures of him. He now lies forever in another place he shared with you, the garden.
So very sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry about Marvin, he looks soo pretty. Hope have a great time in heaven with other cats ( incl. mine) and lot of yummy catfood.
Leslie, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved and beautiful Marvin. Having lost many such furry companions I truly know how you feel and can share in your sorrow. There is a place called Best Friends (http://www.bestfriends.org/) where you can do memorial donations in your pets name and have their picture displayed. This is a fabulous organization that rescues animals. It’s located in Kanab, Utah (where SU use to be). I’ve donated before when we’ve lost pets.
Also it’s my belief that when we lose a furry friend that another one is sent from Heaven (yes I believe animals are in Heaven) to help comfort the grieving. So when you feel you are ready do pick out another sweet kitty and give it the same love and devotion that you did Marvin. He will know and understand. That is why when we lost our precious Nuisance http://faithartistry.blogspot.com/2008/04/memories-of-nuisance.html I just knew we had to share that love with another little kitty and that is how Harley came to live with us.
Take care and God Bless
oh leslis…I am so sorry about Marvin. Hugs to you.
So sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose our pets. The pain will eventually ease but it takes time. I had my sheltie of 15 years put down 8 1/2 years ago and I still miss him sometimes! We have 2 shelties now but they are just not the same. Two animals even of the same breed are never exactly alike. I guess in that way they are just like people. Take care.
So sorry to hear about your beautiful cat passing away. They take a piece of your heart when they go. I know when my white cat Shelby passed away I was heart broken. I still cry sometimes and that was over 7 1/2 a ago. He also loved to give hugs.
Ter
Oh I am so sorry for the loss of your furry family mmber. He will not be alone as he plays with all of our kitty’s too.
I am truly sorry to hear of Marvin’s loss Leslie and of Rascal’s passing Lori. Those we hold most precious live on in our heart and whilst no words can ease the pain of their loss, remembrance will keep them close.
Loving thoughts to you both
Marion

Dear Leslie…I am so sorry for the loss of Marvin. I was in tears just reading your post to my husband. It is so difficult. Anyone who has lost a loved pet knows exactly how you feel. Take comfort in knowing that he is resting is a beautiful spot in your garden. Perhaps you can plant something new to grow nearby in honor of Marvin.
Leslie, I am SO sorry to hear about Marvin! The pictures you shared are beautiful… Please know I am thinking of you and sending you LOTS of hugs!
Leslie, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my beloved dog in the summer and it is still very difficult. My thouhts are with you.
My heart goes out to you. I lost my cat Zak 2 years ago. He died in my arms. It was the saddest thing I’ve ever experienced next to the loss of my father. We buried Zak in the corner of our back yard where he would ccut through to go to the neighbors yard.
Thinking of you-
Gina
Oh I’m so sorry to hear the news about Marvin. He was a beautiful cat and you were both lucky to have known each other and spent time together. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Sorry Leslie for your loss of Marvin! I totally understand.. I have an 18 yr old cat that has been getting ill and I just worry about when her time comes. It is so hard to loose them, but you just have to remember you give them a good life while they are here and hopefully they were happy to be with us. They are just like our children and I hate it every time I loose one.. Take care and just remember - he had a really good life and you gave it to him!!
Big hugs, Donna
Oh, I am SO sad for you! We have had a sick kitty in our house the past couple of weeks, (she’s 11 yrs. old) and I thought we might lose her. After $1000.+ of xrays and tests, we finally got a diagnosis. Her medicine will get here Monday, and I’m scared she won’t make it until then…
I am so very sorry for your loss. I am a big time animal lover (majored in animal science in college, and my hubby is a Vet)…I know just how you are feeling. We have 7 cats and one dog, and I love them ALL. They are part of the family. And of course we have had losses along the way…it’s so very hard…
I hope you will consider getting a new kitty when the time is right. You can never replace Marvin, but a new kitty will bring you joy. BIG HUGS from me to you. *sniff sniff*
Diane
Leslie, I am so, so sorry about Marvin. Hugs to you!!
I’m so sorry to read about Marvin. Cats are truely part of the family and when they pass it is oh so painful. Will be thinking of you….Stephanie ((HUGS))
Leslie, I’m so horribly sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how much this hurts. Our furry friends bring us so much comfort.
Stamper Dog & I send our heartfelt regrets about Marvin. I like the way that Billy Graham talked about our pets. We love them so that I can’t imagine God would have a Heaven for us that didn’t have our beloved pets there too.
Not his exact words, but the general thought. I like to think that my mom & dad are up there walking my old Westie, Johnny Walker.
Dear Leslie, I am SO sorry to hear that Marvin has passed. My thoughts are with you.
Oh, so sorry to hear you lost your friend. I wish I could give you a hug!
God bless,
Jackie
I am so sad for you. It’s nice to see so many people sharing there sympathies with you at a time like this. Pet people stick together. I had to put my cat down last summer. I had him for about 18 years. It was so sad. He was a lot like Marvin. He would sleep beside me every night. My husband used to get so mad because there would be the cat, me and him and apparently I would push him to the side while I was sleeping so I could give the cat more room. He would always complain that he was almost ready to fall off the bed. What can you do - the cat needs his space! The funny thing was, about 10 days before my Bruin died, we got a new kitty from the farm - Peaches. She was adorable, fluffy and a kitten. You can’t get much better than that. It didn’t take away my sadness but it did bring a smile back to my face to see her running around the house playing. We now have Boston (yes, we had Boston and Bruin for cat names), Peaches and our newest kitty - Hunter. I love having a house full of cats. There is always one that needs my attention and that makes me feel happy.
Your post is named so well - Remember Marvin - and that is what you should do. There will always be a special place in your heart for him and in time the sadness will ease. It never goes away but it does get easier. I say this with tears in my eyes as I remember my sweet Bruin.
Oh, Leslie. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I ,too, know how it feels to lose a beloved pet and my heart hurts for you. It is a blessing that you have so many wonderful memories of him…and sweet pictures too. Treasure them. I’m sure you made his life as happy as he made yours. Sending big hugs to you!
Oh hon - I’m so sorry for your loss. Every pet owner has to go through loss. Every time I had to say goodbye to a dear loving pet, I’d swear I would never get another - it just hurt too much when they left. But I always ended up with one or two more babies - the love they share with us over the years and our wonderful memories greatly out-weigh the pain of losing them. My heart is with you.
Leslie,
I am so sorry to hear about Marvin. It is so hard to lose a loved one. There are those out there that don’t understand how we can say the loss of a pet is equal to the loss of a family member but it is because they truly are a family member. As days pass the pain will be less and the memories will keep you going. My childhood dog died in 1988 and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of her, I tell my kids stories about her and though I know she is in a better place than what she was going through here, she is missed dearly and loved greatly!! Cherish the memories.
There are few things harder to deal with than the loss of a loved pet. Please take comfort in the knowledge that all your blogger family is there to support you and listen to you. Enjoy all those wonderful memories.
Hugs
Heather
Oh, Leslie, I’m so sorry! I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes … I have a sweet “Marvin” of my own.
I can’t imagine losing my precious “Marvin” so I can imagine how heartbroken you are now.
I’m so very sorry.
Leslie, my heart breaks for you. I’m so saddened to hear of your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, and my heart is with you my friend. How wonderful that you were able to lay him to rest in such a beautiful place. {{{{Hugs}}}} to you.
I am so sorry to hear about Marvin. He has and will always be a beautiful part of your life.
I am sure he is smiling to know that you laid him to rest in such a beautiful place and so close to you.
Many blessings to you in your time of sorrow.
Dear Leslie….I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. There just aren’t words that can bring true comfort but time will heal the sadness. Take comfort in the fact that so many people have written with caring words…how wonderful it is to have so many people care for you. Please count me among them.
Blessings
Sharon K
Hi Leslie,
I won’t even try to say anything…..we have four cats and one dog and I love them dearly.
I have lost many dogs and cats over the years…..and I remember them all! It does take time for the heart to heal, after losing a precious friend, but we never ever forget what they brought to our lives.
Just wanted to stop in and give you a huge cyberhug!!!!
Leslie,
I am so sorry to hear about Marvin. There are no words to express how much pets enrich our lives. They are truly a BIG part of everyone’s family. Just remember how wonderful life was with him, and know that he is in a better place waiting to be reunited with you.
Big HUGS,
Corie
My sincere condolences on your loss.
Leslie… I’m so sorry to hear that your beloved Marvin is gone. What a wonderful life you gave each other! Many hugs….
I’m sorry about Marvin. Cats are the best. Don’t tell my Golden that I said that.
Marvin’s still with you, in your heart.
Leslie, I am so sorry……I know how much you loved Marvin and what wonderful company he was for you. I am glad I got to see him last week and thought then he had sure aged……just like people. And just like people we can become very, very attached to our animals, especially their unconditional love. Hopefully another beautiful and sweet kittie comes into your life soon. At least you have the pretty orange cat that visits often. Take care, nancy
So sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet Marvin. Wish I could say something that would make it better. For me, only time made the loss less painful.
Take care,
Shawn K.
This is SO sad. I’m such a cat lover and I cried reading your post. Our pets become such a part of our lives and it’s never easy to say goodbye. I still cry when I look at photos of cats that have come into my life and stolen my heart. I learned an important lesson from Marvin. It was from your post “It Just Doesn’t Matter.” What is on the outside really doesn’t matter. Never as much as what is on the inside. It’s interesting the lessons we learn from our pets. He will always be remembered and loved.
Oh my sweet friend, I am so very sorry to read this. I lost my beloved Kitty a few years ago, so I know all too well how difficult this must be for you. My heart is really breaking for you right now - I don’t know what else to say except I am so very, very sad. I know how much you loved that sweet cat - and I know he did too. Take care Leslie.
Leslie,
I’m so sad for you. We almost lost our precious cat Sam a few weeks ago, but God spared him. I’m praying for you that God will help you through this very sad time. You have some beautiful pictures for memories.
Hugs,
Sue
I’m very sorry for your loss.
Our pets are well-loved members of our families so it is hard to deal with. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family and may the memories of Marvin be with you always.
Oh Leslie…I’m so sorry. I know my family had a cat growing up for 19 years. When he died it was very much a loss, all those little precious memories from kitten on….
Thinking about you as you remember!
Leslie, I am so sad for you. They are so special. The place they leave is so big. All I can do for you is share your sadness - Nimmy
Leslie, I am so sorry about your loss. Our pets truly become part of our family.
It is so hard. Please know we all care!
Joan
Leslie, I’m so sorry for your loss.
Oh Leslie, I’m so sad for you. My cats are my babies and I know how hard it is to lose one. I’ll be thinking of you and pray that God will comfort you in your grief. Marvin looked like such a sweet boy and I always enjoyed seeing pictures of him. Take care, my friend.
Leslie, so sorry to hear the sad news about your sweet Marvin. My eyes are filled with tears and my heart breaks for you. It’s wonderful that you were able to bury him in his favorite spot in your garden. May you find comfort in all your happy memories of him.
Oh Leslie. I am so very sorry for the loss of your sweet furry baby. I know just how much that hurts and how awful that feels. I lost both of my fur babies very recently - my golden retriever, Maggie, a year ago this week, and my rescue mutt, Hannah, a few months before that. It absolutely broke my heart and still brings me to tears if I spend too much time dwelling on how very much I miss them both. I try to remember all the good times and the fun and the love and the snuggles but sometimes it seems overwhelming, especially in the beginning. I still haven’t found the strength to bring new fur babies into my home, but someday I think I will. I have no doubt I have it in me to love more babies, but I’m not sure I will survive losing more little furry ones. Time will tell. So I completely understand the pain and loss you are feeling and wish I could give you a big hug and cry with you and laugh with you while you told me tales of Marvin as I’m sure there were many moments of fun and love that you will cherish always. The tears will come - you can’t stop them and wouldn’t if you could. They are healing. You are in my heart and in my thoughts.
Leslie,
I’m so sorry to hear about Marvin. It’s a huge loss when you lose the unconditional love of an animal, something that can’t be replaced. They become family members and their loss is devastating. Only pet owners understand that. You are not alone!!
Leslie, I am so sorrry about your loss, Marvin will remain in your memories and he will be with you everytime you enjoy your garden. love ya, lyn PS. it is OK to cry I know I did (alot) when I lost my “Rhue” who was 18!
Leslie
I am so sorry for your loss…our pets become such an integral part of our families and daily life that there absence is truly missed. Some sweet young kitten may waltz into your life again but it will never replace your bond with Marvin. Fortunately, your garden will bring you many happy memories of him. Hopefully, sharing this with us has also helped to ease some of the pain.
Oh my word, I am so very sorry for your loss. I have 3 dogs and thinking of losing them would be horrible. Hope you heal soon. Judy
Oh Leslie I’m so sorry to hear about your cat!
What a pretty and fitting place to bury him.
sending lots of {{{hugs}}}
Sincere sympathies for the loss your your good friend. Been there, and I know the hurt of it
I’m so sorry for your loss!!! Sending comforting thoughts!
Oh Leslie - I’m so so sorry. What a beautiful creature Marvin is.
There’s nothing that changes that feeling… I know how you feel.
A big hug and a hope for some distraction.
Take care.
Lydia
Leslie, I am so sorry to hear about your loss! I lost my cat two years ago and I can still hear him meowing every now and then in my head. Gosh, they grow on you!! What a nice thought that when you spend time in the garden, he will never be far away. Hugs to you!
Oh Leslie,
I laughed the day you showed us the picture of Marvin with the leaf stuck to his nose….today i am crying - my heart is with you today…
Much Love,
Carol x
Oh…Leslie. I have been gone all day long, and I just saw your post. I am so very sorry for the loss of your Marvin. I am tearing up reading your post, and wish I could give you a great big hug right now.
I am sorry that your sweet Marvin passed away.
Leslie, I’m so sorry that Marvin is gone. I wish words could help you, but I know that they can only do so much. Bless you and your memories of the sweet little fellow.
Jennifer
It is so hard to lose a furry family member. I’m not sure why it has to be that their lives are usually so much shorter than ours. The only explanation I can think of it that it gives us an opportunity to know so many more wonderful animal souls.
A beautiful resting place for a beautiful kitty. My heart, soul and warmest thoughts are with you and your Marvin.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, it is neat that you were able to bury him in his favorite spot!
I’m so very sorry you lost your sweet pet. How heartbreaking. We’ve lost pets also and I can feel your pain. These wonderful animals become part of our family and we love them so dearly.
What a beautiful photo of Marvin in your flower garden. Such a treasure and such a warm memory.
I’m so sorry Leslie. Marvin was a beautiful kitty. Thanks for sharing your stories.
Leslie I ‘m so sorry to hear that you lost sweet Marvin. I teared up when reading your post……{{{{{Big Hugs}}}}}
This morning when I read about Marvin it brought a tear to my eyes and I went awwww….then I started reading some of the replies and the tears really came. You are so very blessed to have all these “friends” thinking and caring about you in your time of need.
You are in my thoughts as well.
Shelley
So sorry to hear about Marvin, warm wishes!
Clairex
Leslie, I’m so sorry to hear of Marvin’s passing. I lost my English Bull, Buster, this past week and am missing him dreadfully. I know what you’re going through. Big Hugs!!!
Leslie, I’m so sorry to hear about you baby. He’ll always be young in your memories.
Leslie, Sorry to hear about your good friend, Marvin. Cats and dogs have a way of winning over our hearts, and becoming such an important part our lives. I know you must miss him very much. I pray that you will find comfort in your memories of him and your time together. My heart goes out to you…..
Leslie, I am so sorry about the loss of Marvin. Animals touch our lives in a way that no one else can. Two years ago we had to put down our cat and I was so brokenhearted that I cried every day for a week. I couldn’t stop crying, so I was begging my husband for us to go find another cat to fill the void. Well, a couple of days later we went to a shelter and there were two kittens, both in the same cage. After looking at both of them, we decided to get both kittens. They were brothers. They have been a wonderful joy in our lives. Then about 18 months ago, neighbors moved out of the neighborhood abandoning two kittens. Can’t believe it, but we took in both of those kittens. All four get along terrific and we sure do enjoy them.
Oh Leslie, I am truly sorry to hear about Marvin. Animals are such blessed creatures and they bring us so much joy. I’m so thankful that you have fond memories. My thoughts are with you my friend.
Leslie I’m so sorry to hear about Marvin. ((((((((Big GA Hugs))))))) my dear friend!! You are in my thoughts.
I am so sorry to hear about Marvin, I know just how you must be feeling.
It is nearly two years since I had to have my collie dog, Bess, put to sleep and I still miss her and think about her a lot.
My husband always pulls a face when I say this - and I know it might sound silly - but I really miss having that soft furry head to stroke. The first time I stroked a dog after she had died it felt really lovely.
I don’t want another pet but I really did love her and my husband takes the view that she was “just a dog” but to me if you love something or someone then love is the same whether it is a child, a parent or a cat or a dog.
That is what I think anyway.
luv

We just loss our beloved dog a few months ago and a friend sent this poem to me.. I sit here blinded with tears for you. Oh how lucky Marvin was to be loved by you and your family.
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends, so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

I am sorry for your loss. Losing a dear friend & confident is very difficult. We had to put down our 19 year old Sadie a few months back & it was like losing a child all over again.
You will always miss Marvin, but I promise with time, the sadnes will abate & the precious loving memories will be a legacy that you will carry forever.
God Bless You & I pray you find another friend, who even though can never take Marvin’s place, will bring you happiness.
(((HUGS)))
Aww Leslie! I’m sorry for your loss. I just heard about this (from your post today) or I would have came earlier.
God Bless you.
Hugs,
Angie
Leslie, I’m so sorry. I’m sure there is big hole in your heart, and I know you must miss him terribly. I’m sending big hugs your way!
Oh no!
Leslie, my heart hurts for your sorrow. I completely understand. He’s resting in a most beautiful place indeed.
Many sweet (((((hugs))))),
Bev
Leslie, I am so very sorry to read about the loss of Marvin. How wonderful God is to let us share such sweet soles here on earth. May your heart feel less pain and emptiness as time goes on. My heart goes out to you.
I’m so very sorry. I have cats too and can’t bare the thought of not having them around. He certainly has a beautiful spot to watch over you from. God bless, you are in my thoughts.
Hugs
Nic
Leslie….Marvin will be with you as long as you cherish your memories of him. I know he was a very special cat.
Oh, Leslie. I am so sorry. I know what it is to lose a beloved pet and good friend. Cats are such wonderful companions. You have done well by him, to have Marvin resting in your beautiful garden that he so enjoyed. Hugs!
So sad to hear of your loss. We lost our “Cricket” last year, and I still miss her. Whenever we came back from a trip, she would scold me for hours–she was so vocal. I have two other cats, but they’re just not the same; but when they go, I know I will miss them too. We mourn our pets only because they were worth having in the first place.
Well I just wanted to look at your beautiful cards, I didn’t think I’d end up feeling like crying!! My heart is aching for you right now. Some people think animals are just animals but we know different. I can honestly say I love my pets as much as I love my kids, sometimes more I think. They are always there for you, never argue, never ask you for money and don’t lip you off! They need to invent cats and dogs that live so long you have to leave them in your will, but until that time, the grief is the price we pay for our wonderful years together and when they go our hearts break, but we are willing to go through it all over again. People that don’t love animals are missing a wondeful experience and I feel sorry for them. My pets are getting on in years and my day will come sooner that I’d like. Leslie I know there is nothing I can say to make you feel better - nothing. Let your tears flow and enjoy your memories.
Oh Leslie! I’m so very sorry for your loss!!! I’m heartbroken for you! I remember too well the passing of my beloved Beau. I know that it feels like part of your soul has been ripped out. He was a soulmate and he had a big place in your very loving heart. It has been said that a true love story never ends and I know that Marvin felt your love.
The statement that comforted me the most during my loss was a comment made by my sister. She said, “God rewards those who love his animals.” As much pain as I was in, I did feel rewarded with little miracles like memories that came flooding back that had long left my mind, etc., etc. I’m sure your rewards are many.
I know there is nothing I can say to fill the void. Please know that my thoughts are with you.
He was a beautiful animal and very lucky to have you and your beautiful garden to play in. I’d bet he’s saying, “It doesn’t get any better than that Leslie! You are the best”!!!!!
Ahhh poor Marvin…..I lost my wonderful 18 lb. cat, Benny on Xmas Day in 2005 and I still have a hard time looking at his fotos. I really feel for you!!! I have since made a small book in his honor. Tell yourself how lucky you were that he found you as his owner and relish the memories of your sweet Marvin. His memory lives on in your heart.
Lesley,
I’m so sorry for your loss.
Oh, Leslie. All I can say is that we cat owners know how to cherish the love. And I’m sure you do. What a perfect resting place for dear Marvin.
{{{{{Leslie}}}}} I’m so sorry to just now be seeing this. I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. I had a kitty for 16 years and there were times when I felt she was all I had. Awww…I’m so sorry. Big hugs to you.
Leslie - I am so sorry that I am just now seeing this. Big HUGS to you my friend! I do know how very hard this is. What a beautiful tribute photo. Marvin certainly knew that he was loved!
