Strut Your Stuff with an Elegant Peacock

Published by leslierich at 2:00 am under Cards, Flourishes

ElegantPeacockWhiteFeb09Hello!  Today I’m very happy to share a preview of an elegant, unusual and fun set which Flourishes will release this coming Friday night — Strut Your Stuff.  You may get lucky and win this set!  Check the Flourishes Blog today for details.  Also, be sure to check the SCS Flourishes Forum Friday night from 7-9 pm Eastern time — there will be a release party happening with samples, games, and giveaways!

When I did an internet search on peacock photos I was surprised to find such a thing as an all white peacock.  I had no idea!  I’m probably the last person to learn of white peacocks but I was so amazed and delighted by their beauty, I knew I wanted to try and capture their elegance on my first card with this set.

The peacock is simply stamped in Versamark on smooth white cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder.  I brushed on a hint of blue and pink with Twinkling H2O’s to give it a little definition.  I then cut out the image and glued it to my die cut panel.  The sentiment is embossed, as well.

The card front is covered with BasicGrey Euphoria paper to place the peacock in a soft and dreamy garden setting — nothing too overpowering for the angelic purity of the bird.  I love the way the pattern in the lighter-colored panels is suggestive of the eye of a peacock feather.  These beautiful papers are included in the current Sophie’s Special at Flourishes.

For a look at some absolutely gorgeous and very colorful cards using this set, please visit my fellow Flourishes designers:

Tomorrow and Friday I’ll be sharing previews of two more new Flourishes sets.  I hope you’ll join me as we prepare for the big Friday night release.  Thank you for your time today!
