Happy Week
It looks like this is going to be Happy Week on the blog — happy birthdays, mostly, since I have so many October birthdays to think about, but today I have two happy hellos to share.
My first card was inspired by clip art which decorated some business correspondence I received at work. It was so colorful and cheerful — I just loved it and I thought it would look pretty on a card. Naturally, I couldn’t reproduce it exactly, and I made some slight color changes, but it’s close, and it was an awfully lot of fun . All the stamps and colors I used are listed in the recipe. All stamps are Stampin’ Up! except for an old ink splatter stamp by CTMH. Very easy!
Here’s a photo of the clip art which inspired me:
And here’s the recipe:
Stamps: Bodacious Bouquet, Simply Said, Sweet Shapes, old CTMH (D.OT.S.) ink splatter Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White Ink: Pink Passion, YoYo Yellow, Only Orange, Sage Shadow, Adirondack Pitch Black Accessories: May Arts Swiss dot ribbon, silver cord
While I was at it, I thought I’d make another card in Earth Elements — inspired by the clip art, but hardly resembling it. I brought out an old favorite, Petal Prints. It looks like a messy garden with leaves floating in mid-air, but the colors are pretty. I added some of the splatter stamp from the Itty Bitty Backgrounds set. I rarely use that stamp anymore, and I don’t know why. It’s the best splatter stamp I’ve ever come across. I need to make a note to self — use Itty Bitty more often.
Stamps: Petal Prints, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, sentiment from Vases in Vogue Paper: Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun, Very Vanilla Ink: Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Old Olive, Summer Sun, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip Accessories: Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon
I’m so glad you could stop by today. I’ll be getting busy on those birthday cards now… Have a happy week!

Leslie, these are beautiful!!! I love the recreation in the top one…looks great. I love the rich colors and splatter detailing in the second. You know…I think I still own some of these sets myself. Great looking cards!!!
Leslie - both cards are just perfect! You’ve certainly inspired me with your artwork and this post. I’ve been missing my mojo and suspect I may have just found it over here on your blog. Your imagination is really something to behold. Thank you.
OMG, that is the best use of the Bodacious set EVER!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!
Both cards are equally beautiful Leslie!!! I love this style and wonder how in the world you can have soooo many different styles of art. You are truly one of the top artists in this field! As for Wally below…LOL…He certainly has grown! What a gorgeous pup he is!
both are pretty but I Love the second one best, maybe it is the colors and I also love the platters on the second.
Awesome cards. Your first card is (doggone) close to that inspiration clip art and is so cheerful. I love the Petal Prints set and it looks wonderful in your “funky” garden.
I love these, and love that you can inspire us to create from something found in our stash! I think I’ll pull out petal prints tonight and have a go with it!
Oh wow, both are so pretty! Really pretty designs you created!
2 ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS CARDS. LOVE THE COLORS ESPECIALLY ON THE SECOND ONE.
Oh Leslie! Both cards are beautiful! The colors are super on both! TFS!
The second is my fave….really like that palette and I’m a big Itsy Bitsy fan…use em all the time.
Oh wow Leslie; these are both SO beautiful; very different, but I love them!!!
Love both your cards. I really like the Petal Prints set! tfs
Both are fabulous Leslie!! Love the first one, because of the bold bright colors!! Awesome clip art/ inspiration piece!!
These are both lovely cards, Leslie! I love the cheerful colors you used with Bodacious Bouquet! The Petal Prints is just wonderful and that stamp set is very special to me, as it’s the one my DD chose for us to use for her wedding invitations. I love the earth elements colors! I sure wish SU would come out with another red taffeta ribbon as it’s one of my favorites. Thankfully I managed to get another roll before it retired. Your creations are always so nice to see!
Hey Leslie! I”m so happy to see Petal Prints again! You bring back favorite oldies and give them a fresh look! Also, really regretting I gave away Bodacious Bouquet to a customer! I was feeling “lost” with that set but what you did here is so unique, fresh, lively, fun, and I could go on….Drats! Love them both!
Both of these cards are awesome, Leslie! Great use of the inspiration piece both literally in the first card and more loosely in the second.
Lovely x 2! Your stamped image is SO like the clip art — GREAT job — and HOW I love your Petal Prints card — and how I wish I had not sold that set — I am much too eager to sell my old SU — many are gone I wish I had kept!!!
Your clipart card is so fun and colorful, and you’ve done a fabulous job with re-creating your inspiration piece!!
Petal prints is one of my all-time favorites, so you can just imagine how I adore your card!! So beautiful, Leslie!!
Both of these cards are lovely, Leslie and just the sort on inspiration I need as I finally have an afternoon to stamp, but a goal of four workshop cards to create. I especially like the earth elements card with the little bow details on the side.
You must have had fun creating all those bright colorful flowers! And without copics too! Great seeing the Petal Prints images again on that lovely card. That’s one I will never let go. Coincidentally, I just used Itty Bitty backgrounds for the first time in ages. Linda
